okay guys, sorry if this is a bit of work for anyone, but i desparately need my own pc.
im a bit of a noob when it comes to hardware, and have roughly £1200 to spend.
could someone please make a list for me of what the best pc i can buy for that money is.
this inculudes monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers as well as the pc itself.
also, could you include a shop in the uk where i could buy all the things you list for a good price.

thanks in advance.

i meant for someone to make a list of a pc they'de want with that budget. im too lazy/stupid

Depends what you want...do you want 1gb of memory or 512k? do you want the latest graphics card? (x800 pro or 6800GT...you couldnt get a 6800ultra with that budget without having worse stuff in it) what size monitor?

I could do it but you would need to copy windows from the pc your using now (or get a copy elsewhere :/) if you wanted it all...ill try get a pc made up with all legit shit...

Ok i can get one upto about £1220 with XP pro and a 19" fst monitor with a x800pro but you'd need to use the on board sound from the motherboard and you'd only have 512mb memory (corsair)

I think its all there... :p

However if you used the monitor your using now and get a copy of windows XP pro (i know its wrong but if you already have it on that pc...why the hell not) you could have 1gb memory...a 6.1 audigy2 to go with the 6.1 speakers and probably get a AMD64 cpu instead, and amd64 mobo of course instead of that one.

You're in manchester... CCL computers are in Bradford (I go there a lot - they are cheap and reliable)

Anyway, £1,200 can get you a very nice PC. I'd be looking at a 32-bit athlonXP 3200+ on an nForce2 motherboard, 1gb DDR333 ram, few hard drives and the all-important X800 XT platinum.

that looks like a pretty good site, thanks.

and alig, im gonna be using it for gaming amongst other things, so im gonna want something pretty kickass, anyway, i was basically wanting to know what the best system i could buy with that budget was. so in other words, what gfx card, tower, monitor, speakers, just basically what you techy guys [no offense by the way, i see it as a compliment :P] would do with the money, and what systems you would buy.

I think an XP3200 would be quite a bottleneck to a X800XT.

If you want to get your moneys worth out of an X800 a A64 would be a better choice. If you decide to get an XP, then a XP-M 2500 is a fantastic buy (cheaper, and considerably faster, than a XP3200) You'll want pc3200 (or higher) ram too, a gig if possible. (an X800 pro/6800 GT is a wiser choice is you go the Athlon XP route imo)

I'd get a 19" crt - a nice flat screen one (you can find these for a very reasonable price)

Have you considered headphones instead of speakers? a nice set of Plantronics will do the job :) (Better for games - and a great mic if you wanna get into clans/play with your mates. A bargain for 30 quid)

yeah, infact, ive actually got a pair of sennheiser hd 212 pro's. but wouldnt they sound better if i was to use a good sound card ? then i could always upgrade the speakers at a later date as well, couldn't i, without spending a fortune on a new soundcard as well.

No it wouldn't. The XP 2500+ isn't even a bottleneck to the X800

Depends what sound card you have now - personally I doubt u'd notice any difference (I use the onboard sound that came with my Asus A7N8X Deluxe ....... which is great :) on par with any expensive sound card i've had before. Supports 5:1 too)

A 2500+ isn't gonna bottleneck an X800, it's fine. Really it would be better to get a 2500+ because they're easily overclocked to a 3200+, but he might need a little help doing that since he's new at this.

yeah, but if i got a 3200+, wouldn't i be able to get that to something like a 3900+ ? its the same principle.
