Lo there...

I will buy myself a new systemin dec.2004 - jan. 2005 .
I allreaddy have choosen the parts of my new rig as much as possible because I am waiing for the new nForce with PCI-e.
Now my question is...I am planning to buy a Antec Sonata Silent Case with an Antec 380W PSU ; is this good enough to handle a ASUS V9999GE ( this is a GeForce 6 6800 256MB, NO GT - hopefully theres a PCI-e version at that time) combined with an AMD athlon64 3500+ ? or should I take an Antec PSU around the 400-500W?

plz tell me thx!

PS: If this might help..I am planning to OC my GPU at a GT Performance or ower...I know the ASUS GPU can handle that easly but can my PSU?

you will be fine with 380 watts but get 400-450 watts so then in future you can add more stuff!!!

If your planning on overclocking then I would buy a new PSU, but you could always buy that later on, if you first buy the case and use it's psu, and if it doesn't work you can just order a new one. There's no sense in buying a psu that you might not need with your system when you buy it. So i'd wait on the psu.

well currently how much Watts does your power supply have

Currently? I think 150Watt :p
Currenly I only have a PIII 500MHz wich is brokn and so I am using my fathers Notebook...JK ey mate ;)
Like I said the PSU that will come with my Case has 380W

In my case there will be:
ASUS mobo with nForce 4 Socket 393
ASUS V9999GE PCI-e (will OC this slightly but not if the PSU can't handle it
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939 (will not OC tis)
Samsung "dunnoh" 80Gb SATA
ASUS or Pioneer DVD 8 or 16speed (hopefully also SATA)
Kingston HyperX PC400 (3200) 512MB or 1GB DDR RAM
1 or 2 Antec standard 120mm case fans :)

thats about it...perhaps later a DVD-rw but I don't need it yet...so I could stick with my 380W PCU? Perhaps I can buy a new one when I buy that DVD-RW...thats next year or something...

The 380 Watt Antec would be perfect. Antec makes awesome power supplies. You will be good to go.

I think an Antec 380w would be ok, but take a look at this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-153-007&depa=0

Very nice 480w Thermaltake and pretty cheap. Thermaltake makes excellent power supplies just like Antec, and this one is very quiet also. I recommend it.

THX for your advice but I live in belgium so I can't order from Newegg (too bad I know )
But I'll think about it...again thx :)

btw srry for double post

THX to you guys and finially Blahblahblah I made my decission (srry for spelling) I will stick with that Antec 380W PCU....thanks guys :)

also yo0u need at least 300 -350 watts to add graphics card!!!

No problem, and an Antec 380w will be perfect, they have very good cooling and amperage they will perform better than other 380w psus, as would a Thermaltake.

I always go with Enermax myself...
I just got a new 480W job to replace my 350W (which was beginning to struggle with all my harddisks)

How much is this Antec costing? You can get a really nice Thermaltake Silent 480 watts for only $56.50.

I already gave him a link to that Thermaltake, he can't get it from newegg cause he's in Belgium.
