I know you can load different firmwares and such onto open source routers, but I don't know which routers, the pricing of them, and the actual signal gain/loss I get choosing one of these over the 360 official adapter.

Anyway, I just wanted to post quickly before I have to go to work just so I can see what to get because I want to move my 360 upstairs and have wireless. I mean I know you have to basically have a wireless switch if I'm not mistaken, but I really am not 100% sure.

I'll be back in about 4.5 hours, and I'm looking to do this rather soon as in tomorrow or the day after so if you guys can rassle up your knowledge, I'd be grateful.

Summary:
I want a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP wifi adapter for the 360.
Anyway will work, but I'm looking for the most reliable signal.

I'm also curious about this. You may already know this though, but for an incredibly cheap fix, you can pipe internet from your computer to your 360 with a cheap ethernet cable. If they're not in the same room though, that probably doesn't help you.

I knew that. It's called Internet Connection Sharing, but I don't have a computer in that room. I want to put it on my HDTV instead of my regular SDTV, and the only reason I haven't until now is because I never had wireless, and now, I feel like I need to put it on that TV.

I'm not sure what else you could do apart from buying Microsoft's ridiculously expensive adapter.

im pretty sure you can just go buy any wireless bridge (i think a lot even now say "wireless gaming bridge" on them) and it works in exactly the same way as the official one.

cant think of any exact models or if the saving is worth it. google wireless bridge i guess

edit: also, could you not go and get a wireless access point and have that plugged into your 360, and sync it up with your router? access points tend to cost about ?30-?50 id imagine
