Need Help for MagicEye Ideas

I'm working on a program that will enable me to make MagicEye images from depth maps. It has the potential to be really cool and I'd like to use it for a few HL images. Unfortunately, I'm not that creative and am looking for suggestions.

Basically, the image can't be too complex (or final quality drops), and should probably have a backdrop (not an infinite depth). I can only use HL1 models so far (cause I don't have HL2 yet), unless of course someone can convert them into LWO's (Lightwave Objects) for me.

So far I've thought of one image, linked *hopefully* below. Let me know what you think. (I'll post the final MagicEye image when I finish the conversion program)

Ok...the program's done now + first pic

OK. I have the program done, and it works almost perfectly. But I still need ideas!

The completed Zombie/Headcrab picture is attached below. Let me know what you think. I didn't have much time to work on the background though, so sorry about that. But what do you think of the 3D scene (simple, but it was just a test).

I'll have more posted here as I come up with them.

That's quite amazing.

I been able to do the magic eye things since I was about 10 (simply crossing and uncrossing the eyes slowly while focusing in the exact center of the image), but I've never really figured out how it is they are made. Probably layers or something...

You could turn this into a contest if you wanted. Post an image, and have people vote on what they think they see. Could be fun, I await the next one.

good job...I always enjoyed those...having one that is hl related is cool...

can you sellect the pattern used? it would be cool if that pattern was hl related somehow...

Yeah...I can choose any pattern that I want, although it *does* have to repeat...MagicEyes work by subtly altering the pattern. I was busy getting it programmed and didn't want to work too hard on the test sample (til I could actually use it). The next one should be better.

Do an HL2 logo one. Thatd be sick. and the pattern should be like like tiny logo pattern.
