Need Help For Movie Idea

I just got a new camcorder that has tons of features and tools, and new editing software, but i have no idea what kind of movie i should make. My friends and I want to make a short film but can't think of any original ideas. If you guys could help us out that would be great. Doesn't have to be descriptive, just general idea. thx!

War films or alien/scifi films are my favourite ones to make. I had to do a war documentary for school and my friends and I reinacted a battle from the war of 1812. It was great fun to make and watch.

Don't worry about a budget or anything just find things that are lieing around.

Well, me and my friends once made a parody gansta movie (Kinda like 8 Mile parody). So we had some crappy rapping (just improvise lol) and the losing party stole guns and then robbed a random drug baron (me )

You can do something like that, you'll all get a good laugh out of it

I wanted to do a murder movie. If you can get good camera angles, scripting, suspence, then you could probably pull one off.

It'll have to be a serious one, though. No comedy, for a murder mystery, unless it's black humour.

Alternatively, make a TARDIS and film everything.

You could make a movie where the devil comes to Earth and is totally dominating everyone, and then, just when everything seems hopeless, and the devil is giving his monologue, he sneezes, and then the main character says "God Bless You" and the devil looks surprised and explodes.

the best way to get a movie idea is not to try to think of what your movie is about, but rather think of the messege you want to convey, then everything else comes easily. It's like writing the thesis of your paper before you start spewing words so that it has some sort of focus.

Every film my old acting-group made were murder/horror lol.

They failed, but fun to watch.

For a begginer, I advise doing a horror movie (Like others have suggested) and the tools you need will be laying around the house! So no expenses are needed for it. It can be great practice for working your editing software and camera angles.

Want fake blood? Strawberry Sauce (Seedless) and chocolate sauce mixed together ftw.

Most important bit of a film = script

Once you've got a script together, then buy a book on photography, and read it.

Don't forget about audio - I work in television its my job to record audio - get a big long pole (broomstick would do), and strap a microphone onto the end. Get someone to hold it 12 inches above the speaker's head, just like you see in the films. Plug the cable into the camera - don't rely on the cameramic for dialogue, it will be rubbish.
