Just yesterday, and today, I started getting very large lag spikes during my gameplay in cs source. I connect to a server, play for about 2 minutes with no problems, but then I suddenly go into a large lag spike. Sometimes I get disconnected, other times I come back into play, but with everyone on the scoreboard and all the player models gone. It's not my computer, it may be my internet, but I have no problems browsing the web. I noticed on net_graph 3 that my 'in' values go really high, sometimes go to about 200-900, and then i begin to lag out. Are there any console commands I should check? Or is there some other problem?

I wouldnt know... but i have the same problem u do. My ping will be 200-300 and then ill go to 900 and sit there. Its a very common problem with 56k modems on source.

...I'm on broadband cable, and this just started happening.

Or if you dont use 56k its still a issue many people have

I guess ill ask the same question... anyone know how to stop this 900 lag spike?

dude nobody cares

Uncalled for.

Anyway, make sure you're playing servers close to where you live. Make sure p2p programs are turned off and try running Ad-Aware to get arid of any spyware.

Ad-Aware SE is a free download and is absoloutly brilliant.

its an inside joke dude....you think you know....you have no idea....but thanks dad

Just ignore him, he spams every topic. As far as the lag goes I've seen this happen to a few people as well. Have you checked www.steampowered.com cuz I know there are peeps having the same troubles.

If worse comes to worse I would e-mail someone at valve and see what they can do to help u out. I sent the an e-mail concerning my lag problems; when I first get into a server my ping is around 400 and slowly drops but it makes me lag like crazy for the first 3 mins.....they never responded but maybe you'll have better luck

Nvm guys, I decided to try HL2:DM, and I had the same problem. Still source, yes, so I tried ut2k4. Kept lagging out. It's my internet

I'll try Ad-Aware again

ok, I cleaned out all the spyware i could find, same problem =/
