Need help with an error on HL2, won't let me play it.

Can Somebody Help Me Please?!

I have every thing downloaded properly on my computer, but when I go to load up HL2 a little window pops up and says:

ENGINE ERROR
Unable to init shader system

Why is it doing that, CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE? Because it's really starting to piss me off.

sounds like a problem with your gfx card imo, try checking your gfx drivers.

Did you buy it off steam?

DAMN! Thats ok I've got another cpu I could use, a sony vaio with a hyperthread 350 proccessor.
