Got ticketed last night for driving without a license. Yes, I HAVE a license, I just didn't have it on me when I was "stopped".

Thing is, I was sitting in an empty parking lot with my engine OFF when I was ticketed. I was in the drivers seat though.

Any chance I can fight this ticket since well... I wasn't actually driving when I got it? I'm thinking maybe no because I was sitting in a highschool parking lot at 2 in the morning when I got it, which i'm pretty sure is another misdemeanor altogether, so i'm thinking that if I go out and say "**** you, I wasn't even driving when you ticketed me", the man might reply "well then here's a trespassing fine. How's my dick taste?"

Thoughts?

Uhhhhh

Go to court when they say your name do the NO CONTEST with an explanation. I went to the school to jog, run, I have my license and no tickets I would like this to stay off my record.

Good luck

It's paper, burn it. The most damage it could do to you is give you a small cut.

Just keep it away from your jugular at all times!

You're SOL I believe. We've all heard this story before, but in most places (or, at least, in Canada) a drunk guy can be charged for drunk driving if he's asleep in the drivers seat with the keys on him, because he is deemed to be "in charge of the vehicle" or something similar.

I've heard stories of people throwing their keys in the woods when a cop pulls up behind them on the side of the road to avoid such a charge.

Personally, I'd probably hop in the passenger's seat (tinted rear windows), then tell the cop my car broke down and my designated driver walked home.

next time tell him that while you may not have your license to drive, you DO have your license to kill.

(just pay it)

You don't have your wallet with you?!? At fault here.

Not at fault here, main reason why I don't like cops.

Trespassing but mainly there is a law in place for a curfew for new drivers. I'm betting the officer asked you if somebody over the age of 21 drove you there. Officer proably said "can you get them here" and you couldn't so you must be the driver, BUSTED! :p Most people still in grade school have a curfew in effect unless your friend Mike who stayed back a few times. :p You could always just yell at the judge and accuse them of being racist. Now if they try and arrest you say "you don't know you I am" and pronounce that the president is your friend to escape the charge. Playing the race card is an effective and proven strategy.

Your best hope is that the cop doesnt show up, then the charges will be dropped. Otherwise you're shit out of luck. Jsut bring the license to show the judge and your best bet would probably be to plead no contest.

dont you have a 24/48 hour grace period where you can go to the cop shop and just show then your license? we do

just make a court date, hopefully he wont show. also pleading not guilty will probably hurt your chances of winning. you ARE guilty of not having a drivers license AND it would be hard to prove you just pushed your car to the parking lot

So you guy's always have to have your licence on you while your driving?
Here we don't have to, if a cop asks for it and you don't have it you get 48 hours to produce it at your local police station.

Your fault for not having your license with you.
Your fault for being in a drivers seat with the car off *You can still get ticketed..you can still get a DWI if you're sleeping it off in the car.* It's not the cops fault that law exists.
Just go to court, let them know the story, show your license, should let you off.

No, they actually wont. Like you said its not the judge's fault the law exists. If you tell the judge you broke the law you are pleading guilty; they won't be able to let you off because they thought you were nice.

His best bet is to hope that the cop doesnt show and if he does just to plead no contest and pay the ticket (im pretty sure that the fine for this is small).

Then what's to say they won't let him off? He's a legal driver, but he just forgot his wallet at home. That happens all the time.

If it's his first ticket/misdemeanor or whatever on his record, the judge will more than likely take it off his record completely and abolish the fine. First timers nearly 100% of the time get off without paying a fine or getting a ticket especially since it is such a small offense.

Take it to court, tell them your story, and you should be able to get off without paying anything.

Also, since no one else asked. What were you doing in the high school parking lot at 2 in the morning? Hm..?

i bet it was a fapfest until the cop showed up, then it got intimate ;)

I've gotten a ticket, showed them I fixed the issue and they dropped it.

So yes, No Limit, if it's his first offense, they will drop it.

Unless you're caught going 100 MPH on the freeway. They definitely don't drop that. Trust me, I know :(

I was actually let go once after doing 130+MPH. I saw the glimmer of chrome from his red and blue lights about a mile or two away. (as far into the vanishing point that I could see) I had the brakes full on for a mile or so, downshifting to slow down, but the brakes were too hot and weren't really working at all. Massive brake fade.

I had got down to about 70 as I slowly passed him with the brakes fully on, I'll bet my rotors were glowing orange. He saw that I was speeding obviously, but I don't think he realized by how much. I had a reason for speeding though, and luckily he let me off.

But I did get a ticket for having black tail lights, which he wouldn't have seen if I wasn't passing him.

Yes, I used to drive like a stupid asshole, many years ago.

So I actually just found my license underneath the drivers seat a couple of minutes ago.

**** ME
