Need help with Hammer...

I just started to map in HL and when I run the compile in Hammer it says:

"Error: Error opening C:\HL\halflife\hl\maps\Test_Map1.map: No such file or directory"

I don't know how to fix the problem... help plz?

P.S. I searched my HL directory for any .map files and there were none.
I'm RELLY unsure of how to compile or what I'm doing.

I take it you arn't using Zoners Compile Tools? Go dowload them from

here

A guide should be included with the installer as to where you should install it all.

check your map for problems. Map>Check for Problems

also look for error messages in the compile logs.

I have Zoners tools and The check problems is for the map not for the compiling process...

A) make sure that your map successfully compiles and then has the file in the correct location (C:\HL\halflife\hl\maps\Test_Map1.map)

when compiling a map for the first time - if something doesn't let it finish compiling it will still launch half life and try to run it.

B) perhaps you're just not copying it to the right folder.

i think you didn't set the right directory for: Place compiled maps in this directory before running the game, in the build program tab, mine is:
D:\Games\Counter-Strike\cstrike\maps
