Right...i recently purchased a new case and i'm having trouble with the ribbon cables and power cables.

I plugged a ribbon cable into IDE1 and then into my CD-RW, followed by a power cable in it.

Then another ribbon cable into IDE2 then into my TWO HDD's, and again two power cables in them.

now...the monitor dosent turn on at all, but I can hear the HDD's powering up , so I thought my graphics card had naffed, so I tested it in my other comp and it worked :D, i also tried testing the monitor, that worked to, so I think its the ribbon/power cables which are in the wrong places etc...

So, can anyone plz tell me the specific order/place they go in ?

(BTW i have a aSROCK K7VT2)

thxs

Oh, nice mobo :)

Anyway, there is no specific order that power cables have to go in, (to the best of my knowledge, feel free to correct me here) so, I don't know, hmmmm could be that theres no power going to the motherboard? Or you haven't plugged the 3D card into the PSU

All I can think of, but then again, I'm a bit of a newbie too

OH WOOPIE!! :frown:

To see if I havent mucked up my mobo in gettin angry with it not working, I just had my CPU and vid card in to see if it acctually boots

Well....it just turns itself off :frown: , the CPU fans powers up and everything

I cant believe this, wasted all my money on my comp now its f*****!!!!!

wait wait wait...now the CPU stays on :|, thats whats peeing me off, different problems everytime :flame:

But the monitor still dosent come on, I only had the CPU and vid card in

Hmm i had this problem with a blown out board, everything would start up except the board. A good way to tell if the board IS working is, if you have an optical mouse the lazer should be on. That's what clued me in that the board was shot.

But don't jump to that conclusion yet, i've had computers crap out on me so many times and i was convinced they were broken. The main question is, are there any loud beeping sounds? Do you have two power chords plugged into the mother board? Does your video card require a plug in?

Check all those things out, those are all easy to forget problems that would make it not boot up. Also you may have just fried the ram when you were putting it in, that would cause a system not to boot as well, i did that on my first computer i ever built.

Thxs for the help randomping...as I said, I tried my current mobo with just the CPU and Graphics card in and it didnt boot...

So, i tried my OLD mobo with the CPU and card in(same as above)...um...it worked!, so it looks like my mobo is naffed

ah well of to get another one

edit: oh wait...I tried that mouse thingy, my little sensor thingy came on :D, but then the system shutdown :|, so yup! a new mobo it is
