Okay, here's the heads-up...

I downloaded XSI EXP from the Softimage website (Took 10 hours, had to use GetRight), and at one point it got confused (I think Softimage move the XSI file around to prevent any link to it from being valid for any length of time.).

I went through the download process again (Where you enter your username and password into the site), halted it, got the address string from the IE address box (Loooonnnnng... mostly characters and numbers), as I had before, and re-downloaded it...

When it finally finished the file was there, and at the proper size, but GetRight had named the damn thing "download-denied.asp", which was the name of the little page you get taken to if your download link is old (Stupid GetRight.)... any way, to get to the point, how can I rename it to an .exe, given that I don't know how to change filenames (Running WinXP, and I don't know how to make them show.). It's an .exe, but Windows thinks it's an .asp...

HELLLLLLLLLP MEEEEEEE!

Go to the folder the file is in.
Click Tools > Folder Options > View (tab) > (uncheck) Hide extensions for known file types

Tada. Now you can rename and change the extension :)

There is also a set of tools for windows xp that I use that you can right click the file and click change extention. (I use it so i don't accidentally rename the file) I also have the hiden extentions off.

It's called "ShellToys XP" and it has a bunch of ext. menu extentions like file listings, batch rename a bucnh of other really cool stuff....just go get it
