need math help..

Hola, my son has to do his math till tomorrow, and as usual he asks me for help...(bad idear).

heres the prob. 3 squirels eats their nuts in 3 hours, how long will it take 5 squirels to eat the same ammount?
and he has to write down how he ended up with his answer.

I can only get to 1,45 hour, but his facit says 1,48... wtf?

Lets say we do this:

Just do (3 multiplied by 3) divided by 5 = 1.8

1.8 in hours/minutes = 1 hour and 0.8 of an hour.
Where 0.8 of an hour = 60 multiplied by 0.8 = 48.

Therefore it = 1 hour 48 minutes.

I did it a different way Marksman, i did 5/3 = 1.88, and said that it would take 1.88hours to eat 3 nuts, rather than 3 hours.

1 Hour 52Minutes, i have it as.

Are you sure it isn't just a simple problem of reading the question ?

To me it sounds really simple. 3 squirelds eat thier nuts in 3 hours. Assuming they are saying each squirrel takes 3 hours to eat thier nuts.

Answer is unchanged no matter how many squirrels. 3 hours.

EDIT: what is a facit? IS that the answer sheet? ok then nvm

yeah its really simple 9 grade math....but im 15 years older, and 7 kilos of cannabis ahead to remember anything from school...

But seriously, the first answer was correct. 3 squirrels, 3 hours each, that's 9 hours of eating. If you have 5 squirrels, you divide 9 by 5 so each has 1.8 hours of eating.
