so i somehow convinced one of my female friends to get into gaming.

and i've determined that probably she'll like more none violent games, such as adventure, or some nice RPG. FPS are out of the question, because she wants a game where you don't have to be constantly on your toes or under stress.

i thought up some possible candidates:

The curse of monkey island
The longest journey
Little big adventure 2
Syberia
Sam&Max
Grim fandago

any more ideas? they can be older but not too old :P

what about isometric RPG, but the ones with less fighting or at least slower action (turn based)?
i wonder if she'd like Fallout 2 since it's turn based.

You can't have her play Monkey Island or Sam and Max unless you recommend her Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle. You just can't.

The Sims. Cooking Mama. Um... the Sims 2.

Yeah, I'm all ou... oh wait, didn't Hannah Montana have a game now?

Anything Nintendo really. Nintendogs, Cooking Mama, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, rhythm games, The Sims etc.

I'd have her stay away from the ones you suggested. Most girls don't mind casual gaming but that's about as far as it will go. Just keep that in mind.

On a sidenote, I can never figure out why guys want to convince chicks to dig games. It doesn't really make sense to me.

Psychonauts
Final Fantasy x, x-2
dreamfall (TLJ sequel, much more noob friendly)

I'd recommend Peggle. That's about as casual as you can get, not to mention that its insanly addicting (draw them in, mwahahaha :D)

oh boy....

i was sort of looking at more...khm...respectful games. or more complex

meh...i think i might be asking more than i can handle...getting girls into games is probably one of the toughest endeavors ever :stare:

i'll see what can i do

LBA2 all the way. Twinsen needs your help!

Starcraft
Warcraft 1 - 3
Knights of the Old Republic
Deus Ex
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Spore Creature Creator
Beyond Good & Evil
Civilization 3/4
Any of the Total War games

I got my girl into gaming with Starcraft. :p
Sat her down and showed her the ropes and now she plays it whenever she's got nothing to do.

Age of Empires 2. It has horses and you can make them run around in a setting that's more respectable than, say, a game that's just about horses... like Barbie Horse Rescue :P.

But all kidding aside, I think the Age of Empires series could be a good one.

LBA2... wow that was epic, I can't find the original LBA on the PC though, I had it on the PSX.

minesweeper

sorry, she already excels at that game :P

hmm...AOE2 could work, could work

KOTOR...nah
starcraft...maybe
TR...probably not
civ...hmm
total war...np
deus ex...ahaha...i'd die a happy man, seeing a girl enjoy that game
HL...no
oblivion...nope
settlers...just might have a chance

ahaha...looky what i've found in my cd case...theme hospital

x-com games...lol, that would be awesome

i'm now aiming at turned based stuff, any ideas?

Penumbra
Deus Ex
System Shock 2

If she gets under stress from those, you know what to do.

I'd do Age of Empires 1, though. IT'S BETTER.

Commandos 1 is damn good, never played the second, the third one is boss, the 4th one looks like balls.

Stop pussy-footing around her and thrust her into the world of Quake 3, tbh.

The Longest Journey is a really good game.

Very good story but it is a point and click adventure game.

Another game that would be good is Portal, it's very cute :3.

Stay away from the hardcore fan stuff.

RPGs. Something with a good story, or something with a social aspect to it. I'm thinking an MMO, but I'm not sure you'd want her addicted to that. Maybe Guild Wars?

Animal Crossing. Bitches love Animal Crossing.

keep em' coming guys. i think i'll really start with AOE 1 then start with adventure games.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this one. You might be surprised... girls seem to like Portal a lot. There are companion cube knitting patterns out there. What the heck.

Long ago, when I had a Nintendo 64, I had a couple girls over my house, and I was showing them Waverace64, and let them try it. They never really played any video games before, and they absolutely loved it. They were extremely loud and yelling and having fun.

I know they also had a Waverace game on the Gamecube, but I'm not sure after that. You should tell her to get a Wii. I think Waverace is coming to that system.

Either that or a PC emulator of the N64 + Waverace64

Portal and my penis are very similar.

The ladies love it, it's really fun, after it's all over with, you crave more, and in the short time it lasts, you enjoy every second of it.

eh? eh? Do I here any chuckles? (If not I'll have to kill myself.)

I made that up you know.

Portal would be perfect to make a girl like games...

*makes plans*

N64 = win for the whole family!

Do you even know if she likes games at all aside from minesweeper? Casual game's first to test whether she accepts the notion of gaming before moving onto shit based on her response.

But are there knitting patterns for....

ok nevermind let's not go there.

casual games...ugh...i'm not too fond of them.

sadly i don't have portal and she's coming tomorrow.
she played the sims, from time to time.
