so I got a new CPU a AMD643500 doesanybody know what Graphic Settings are
CPU dependent and the ones that need Graphic Card power?
I have 6800 OC btw

Howdya mean? You wana know what settings you can raise or lower, considering you've got a good cpu and, what, a bad video card?

BF2's a RAM bitch- how much ram you got? My flatmate runs his x800pro, and a 2.6ghz Intel, but with 2 gigs of ram, so he has just about all settings on high. Its trial and error bro- play with the settings and see what works. I know if i have texture filtering lowered it reduces my lag, but i got a 6800gt wit 3200+ and 1gb ram :)

visit xbitlabs or anandtek for review on AMD64 vs games

Yeah ram hog it is. my 9600XT 2.8P4 1 gig of ram can do medium settings...but then again, my video card is pretty low end nowdays

I had 512 Ram, very laggy.

When I switched to 2 gigs of RAM, I almost freacked when I saw the awesome graphics it had.

video card?

128mb. Geforce something.

would 512 be enough or do I really need another 1024????

It's not so much a performance issue from what I hear. I've heard a bunch of people getting stutters with 6800's. I dunno what the fix is though. I'll look around on totalbf2.

that would be great If you found out whats going on....

People on totalbf2 insist it's a ram problem and that you don't have enough...but that doesn't make sense because I have the same amount of ram as you and a slower cpu and I get 0 stutters...

ARGH. maybe it just that my Card I have 6800 you have 6800GT.

I aint getting 3gigs of ram, another 1024mb should be fine

768mb and above. There isn't much of a difference above 768, assuming your not running 10 million different applications.

People have posted huge differences between 1GB and 2GB. I wouldn't reccommend less than 1GB for BF2. As would anyone else. 768 just doesn't cut it sorry.

Yeh, have to agree there- 1 gb is fine- but i notice a huge diff between 1 and 2 gigs.

Im gonna get me 1.5 gigs (got 1gb atm)- hoping it's gonna stop the bs lag i get at the start of most rounds for the first couple of minutes. (especially Daqing!).
I could lower my settings, but im a eye candy bitch, so meh.

I'm gonna steal my roomates 512 ddr400 stick....muwahaha, he'll have my old 512 pc2100 stick left. I think he'll notice :P

i tried just now to put a kinston ddr400 512 stick in my mobo (Albatron K8Ultra-V Pro 2) alongside my kingmax 2x 512 ddr400 AND IT WONT FIT!! Weird, cos it should- anyone have any idea why it wouldn't? Im pretty sure im doing it right, but are there known problems with getting Kingston into ALbatron boards that anyone knows about?

Its my flatmate's ram, so im not too bothered, but it's just weird.
