I'm doing this comic book cover as part of my end of year assessment and i just can't think of any kind of colours to use on this.

Its a perspective shot looking down a building and into the street. i haven't added all the little details yet because i'm stuck on the colours. If anyone can help me out, it would mean the world to me.

Also i thought i'd point out that i'm not trying to make it too drab or anything, i'm just looking for normal, daytime colours, but i just can't think of anything to use except gray, blue and all these lame uninteresting colours. BAH

I immediately thought dawn. pinks n oranges against cold blue/purple long shadows. Also some great reflection opportunity in that glass. If the focus is on the street maybe make it deserted with paper n crap flying about.
If I wasn't at work i'd knock out a visual, soz dood :(

Thats actually the first thing i did, but it just didn't suit it. Also mainly because i think i forgot to mention is that it has three characters battling each other on the side of that skyscraper.

ah, now that changes the atmosphere totally. Think Matrix. Overcast, heavy rain (a centrally converging field of rain streaks would give a cool feeling of vertigo), - highlight from a flash of lightning casting long, sharp shadows.

For colours, use a bruise as reference.
Or go the matrix route and use greens.
And as it's a comic, black is ok :D

Read a few spiderman comics, might help get an idea. Thats if your going for the comic book style. If you want to make it realistic its another kettle of fish.

yeah, dude...i was just about to ask if you'd ever seen the Spider-Man TV series that was out a few years ago. if you have, think about the night scenes.

I got the colours figured out (and just thought i'd mention those orange bits at the bottom are tree's)

Nice colors. May i ask what that gray thing is :P

I really like those colors. It brings out the characters really well.

Wow, nice work!

Is that Gordon? Why am I seeing a HL symbol.. :O

When I first saw that colored picture I really got the feeling I was falling down. Hehe, was pretty weird..

So I guess that means, nice work!

Its not gordon, but the armor is "inspired" by Half-Life :P

Rob is the Gordon look-alike, and Jake is the other one (obviously)
