Need to do OS re-install

I need to re-install xp. I've got steam and hl2 on a separate partition. I made a backup of the registry keys for steam and also my own profile. Is there anything else I need to do so I won't have to re-install steam and half-life 2.

just reinstall steam, but copy the steamapps folder to somewhere else so that it wont get deleted in the uninstall.
