Do u need Windows XP to use 3dsmax5? beacuse it dont seem to work on my computer and i have Windows ME, PLZ tell ! :dozey:

What exactly is it that doesnt appear to work? Wont start? Complains about a setting? Need details, this is like asking "Why dont that bird fly?!"

It will definetly work on Win2k, so no, you don't need XP, but due to NTs FAR superior memory management I'd highly recommend 2K/XP, why the hell does one have ME installed anyways?!

u need windows XP to run 3dsmax6. If thats what u have. Tbh I use 5 its better.

i havent bothered to buy XP but anyway....3dsmax5 just dont start if i double klick on it its starting to search then like a 3dsmax5 picture shows and then its some keys or sometning then it just shuts down ... anyone know the problem or what to do?

if your copy is legit e-mail discreet. if you have a pirated version it's probably corrupted. So buy it from discreet and no problems. Also i run 3dsmax 5 on win98 with no problems however Max5.1 requires winXP

Why are people still using 9X?? 98 SE is acceptable on some levels but ME is horrendous.

i beleive 5.1 will run on win2k. check out discreets website.

yea. 3.x-5.x runs on 2k pro, 2k server, & 2k advanced server. I dont know how you guys are buying it, the only reason i have it is from the previous company a friend worked for got his legal copy and gave it to me. I couldnt find any place to 'buy' it as i heard its only given to companys with a use. However... i didnt check the discreet site either.

on the discreet site it lists registered software vendors for discreet/autodesk products. alos you can che the Business software alliance for a list of vendors. As well as do a google search for vendors.
