Evangelion was a weeeeeird series... what i most remember about it was the totally ineffectual conventional defenses the city employed, the James Bond rip-off battle music, and the strange STRANGE and disappointing ending. I liked the theme music though.

I don't believe it actually has anything to do with the religion itself. The symbols and the motifs simply seem interesting to them, and they use it in the same way that here we use oriental letters on T-shirts (for example) without even knowing what they mean. The director of Eva explicitly stated that there were no Christian themes in the series and that the symbology was chosen because it would seem weird and alien to viewers - he never imagined the show would make it outside Japan.

I find it hard to get excited about it at all.

By the time I got to the end of the series I was finding it really hard to care. Then, the film just made me even more irritated till I just got plain fed up. I've not watched it again since.

Now, an Elfen Lied live action film would be good. It would just get banned in most of the free world.
