This happened twice recently in the UK. Courts ruled in favour of the hospitals who argued that the baby's quality of life would be awful and that continuing to help them live would be, ultimately, detrimental to the child. They didn't kill them though, just decide not to resuscitate it the next time it lapsed.
Although I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this case...

(insert anger here)<---- wait... but what they are doing isin't an atrocity, it's ending suffering and saving equipment that could be used to save the lives of others who stand a chance.

This kinda thing has to be done case by case. I agree with Shampoo somewhat though.
