This is a problem I have been having for a very long time. (6months+)
So anyways I have 2 computers hooked up my dsl connection via a USB adapter. So the comp. that has the router hooked direct to it works fine but the other one with the USB adapter constantly gets the "network unplugged message" and it goes on for weeks at a time. So after a week or so of not having internet access on MY computer, I unplug everything for a few min then plug it back in and it works, but only for a day or two max then its gone again. This problem is very frusterating and I'am clueless about network type of stuff.

I have talked to tech support at least 6 times and they give a different answer everytime.

PS: I had my whole house rewired recently so thats not it :bounce:

hope someone can help! take your best shot

What do you mean by "USB adapter," exactly? A USB NIC? Or what?

Anyhow, is the USB directly connected to your computer or through an external USB hub?

Do you just have one network connection listed in Network Connections?
Disable any extra you may have.
Is the USB pluged into the PC or the router?
Does the connection still work and the pop up msg is just annoying or it does not work?
If you just have the one network connection listed (PC/USB to Ethernet/Router) then I would see about disable it showing up on your taskbar, if it is just annoying.
If it is not connected while it says that...donno.

I would'nt bother with usb m8 they more trouble then they worth for networking.
try installing ips/spx protacal on both pc's that sorted most of my networking problems out for file sharing between my network.

i assume he means a usb to usb network connection or... a usb to ethernet adapter...

if your using either of these your better off buying a ethernet card

there only about £15 which is a 10/100 so it just as easy to get that rather than mess about after the usb stuff... more hassle than nits worth...

I have an ethernet card too, (it is disabled) but if I used that wouldnt it mean having to run a new line? The reason I went with the USB thing is cause the computers are on opposite sides of my house.

So what they did was merge the phonelines so the one in my room and the one in my moms office are the same, is there a way I can use my ethernet card to do it without having to run a new line?

It is like a USB adapter thingy, it plugs into USB port then into the phone line, so does that mean I can just put my ethernet card back in and then connect that to the phone line?

hmmmm

what I meant was is there a cable that on one side has ethernet thing and on the other end has normal phone jack? Would that even work, I dont really know about networking.

heres that USB thing in case you were curious:

its the one on the left (obviously) :)

You're trying to network a dialup account?

Never seen that kinda adapter before, I see how it works, but alas, I can be of no help, sorry

I have no idea how your supposed to do that, sorry.

But then why would you use a normal phone jack?

I dunno, I meant cause they are the same pluggy things ya know?
