Okay, so I got my PC back up and running yesterday after the new HD was installed and so was Vista, etc etc...

Everything is functional except my computer cant seem to find my home's wired network. While trying to get it to work, I accidentally made it so nobody could get onto the internet...fixed that today, and everybody is back online except me. I assume because everybody is using XP except me.

Anybody know how I can get this going? Ive tried uninstalling/reinstalling the onboard NIC software, searching for networks and everything, to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with wireless connections or vista.

But the fact that your other computers are back on the network tells me the network is working and accepting connections. You just installed an operating system, right?

Have you tried going to start > settings > network connections and going through the setup of a network connection wizard? Perhaps it can help you?

The network connection wizard does not exist in the same context as XP, sadly...I just decided to look at ipconfig and its all wrong, so Im gonna try to manually override it here in a sec...

Mirrored the settings on my laptop and now it discovers 2 networks, but when i choose to connect, it says it cant find any....

I'm assuming all computers are connected to a central router, which in turn is connected to the internet?

in your command prompt, have you tried

\ipconfig renew

Correct. The only difference between my PC and the 2 laptops and 2 desktops that can connect is the OS...

Well 4 days and 6 network adapters and Im back online with an Abit wireless adapter that i picked up for $30 + tax at MicroCenter...its one of those cool little bastards with remote antennas...
