i always wondered...if you get buried in fresh, fluffy snow. couldn't you slowly dig yourself out? of course making any big moves is impossible, but what i'd theoretically do is twist my arms so as the hole becomes larger i'd regain some of my mobility, after that i'd go for my head. but considering it's hard to even push a stick trough settled snow. the key here is short moves.
