Last weekend in the Finnish city of Pori a few well known finnish overclocking enthusiasts gathered togheter to overclock. They are called Team Finland and are composed of Sami Mäkinen(macci), Mikko Liljeroos (Kamu) and Sampsa Kurri.

After 5 hours of cooling and overclocking they got the new record, which is 16774. To get that score they used the new ATI Radeon X800 XT and a P4 EE
cooled with liquid nitrogen.

The event was broadcasted live on webcam with a few hundred enthusiasts watching from all over the world.

The article is in finnish but there are pics to see.

'few well known finnish overclocking enthusiasts gathered togheter to overclock' haha, sorry that sounded really funny when i first red that...

/me sheds a tear

omg, the thing looks like it was soaked in water and put in the freezer for a week :P

Doesn't suprise me, since nobody before has used an X800 XT to break the record :/

I'm expecting someone to beat the Fin's record soon using a 6800 Ultra Extreme - it has the power.

wow lets all spend 6000 dollars to to get a score that will be beaten by mainstream hardware in less than a year!

Look at the top 3dmark scores, there are a few with the XT.

What a waste of money....and time.

Only if you don't enjoy it. Like I think golf is a waste of time and money, but I don't think overclocking is.

Yeah, it's all a thing of prefernce. If I had that kinda money, i'd do soemthing like that... OCing is awsome...

(incidently a friend and myself are gonna experiemnt with some liquid nitrogen and some superfast componets this summer :)

:| Well the whole card was frozen, isn't that a waste? Because it has to defrost which means liquid; water. Now the card is destroyed right, along with any other frozen parts?

only if the water that apears has any minerals in it, you could drop a pc in a tank full of pure distled water, take it out, let it dry. plug it in and use it. :O

:naughty: Holy crap! That is cool, so if I were to purchase some distilled drinking water, I can clean my parts with it?!?! COOL!

you can actually laminate your PC components, thus making them waterproof.. :)

Yeah, but I wouldn't do it.

Distilled water is also used when watercooling, so that if you get a leak, it shouldn't break anything. Since water doesn't conduct electricity, it's the garbage in it that does.

Gah, I meant to say distilled water doesn't conduct electricity, only when it has garbage in it does it conduct electricity.

Thanks for pointing that out, heh.

That 'Garbage' as you quaintly put it is what is responsible for life on earth ;).

But it's not responsible for the life of my computer :P

Actually, for those non-believers, BEHOLD!

And no, it is not fake. The HD/PSU had to be placed out of the water, under the rest of it. The memory, CPU, mainboard, video/sound/whatever else is all under water. There's even a fish swimming around in it =)
