AM2 roadmap
AM2 + 939 roadmap
Article

A couple FX parts and a couple high-end X2 parts will be coming out this fall and into '07. Everything else is dropping in price. Maybe AMD will try to play the best buck for the performance again like they did with the Athlon XP.

just curious, asus, but is it worth waiting for AM2, or is it safe to go ahead and buy 939? I want to upgrade my processor and video card, and I don't know if I should wait or go ahead.

am2 is already here. wait for conroe when amd apparently will be lowering their prices.

Well AM2 is out now. But what ever you do, I would wait until July has come and gone. Intel will have Conroe filling up the shops and AMD will have dropped prices on socket AM2 by August.

If you are like me and have DDR memory you want to use still then wait and see if S939 drops in price like AM2 has been planned to. If you are buying everything new then go ahead and go with a DDR2 platform. Either Intel or AMD (AM2).

FYI AMD's AM3 socket CPUs should be backwards compatible with AM2 motherboards. So unlike S754 and S939 where you had to replace the CPU and board, with AM3 CPUs you can keep your AM2 board.
K8L = AM3

my favorite part is the big red text that says

CONFIDENTIAL

:laugh:

this is why i hate computers.

now i have to wait till august to get a new pc so am2 will be cheaper, or conroe will turn out to have a good price/performance.

another month with no pc, awesome !

/shakes fist @ moore.
