First, please refer to my last thread which had my first attempt and drawing anime: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=35658
Below is the drawing I posted in the thread. Now after a couple of weeks, and reading a few tutorials on drawing anime, and playing around with Paint Shop Pro, I came up with the image below this one. You may scroll down to see if you please.

Now the new one:

Have I gotten better? :)

btw I know the hair lines and stuff are kind of squiggly, but you know how hard it is to draw with a mouse- especially since I'm left handed and I mouse with right

Well, this new one is a ton better.
But it still has all the anime stylings that bug the hell outta me.
She's like an alien gray with a spiffy makeover. :P

For anime, it's damn near as good as any I've seen.
As a realistic portrait though, pretty much everything is wrong to some degree. :O

Edit:

Second one looks like it could have come from a vidcap of some anime cartoon, looks great.

Still surprised your able to do these with a mouse, how the hell do you do that? :D

I really dig the second one, it does look like it could've been a vidcap :D

Well, I draw it regular like with pencil on paper, then draw over it with pen, and erase the pencil. With that, I get this:

Then, using Paint Shop Pro, there's this feature called vector raster drawing or some shit, y'know, it's what make flash animation look so smooth. So I drew over the whole scanned image, then using layers I spent almost 2 hours coloring it in. Was it worth it? I'm not sure yet...
