new ati crossfire beats nVidias sli in 3dmark 05 and more

If you can use your current PCI-E card, then that is a very good step by Ati in teh dual GPU setup race. Looks very interesting!

The necessity for a dongle concerns me. Doesn't it mean the two cards aren't rendering to the same frame buffer? Unless I'm mistaken this would mean you couldn't do AA on the lines that are at the edges of the two cards' frames.

I am sure they took that into account and worked out that problem if it is such a problem.

well, still I'm sure thats gonna cost a crapload more at first than Nvidia SLI does now.....you can get 2 SLI ready 6600GTs for $375 or so, plus rougly $160-200 for the mobo....two top of the line ATI's will run you $600 to $800, not mentioning how expensive the ATI mobo will be once it debuts....

you're comparing midrange cards to top of the line...

of course the ati is gonna cost more when you look at it that way..

Take to top of the line Nvidia gfx cards and it can get over $1,000.

Well boys and girls...this summer is sure as hell gonna be fun. With crossfire on the horizon along with the new nvidia g70 it's gonna be so great. :D

Also add on to that nvidia is possibly working on SLI 2.Here's the article...

This could be an attempt by nvidia shoot down the crossfire.

That's right!
Now we just need ATI to anounce their new card and we would really be in business. ;)

Until there are games that will take advantage of this count me out, considering that most of games that have come out recenlty have very bad, dated graphics.
