New Baldur's Gate?

Nice , I could not put the first one down. I just hope they don't crap it up.

I bet five bucks that this game will be an MMO.

Seems like "3" is a doomed number - nearly ever game that bears it tends to be horribly dumbed down, mutilated or not resemble other titles at all, case in point: KOTOR3.

That twist ending was great.

I'm assuming Obsidian will be moving on to the new Baldur's Gate once they're done with NWN2?
It will quite likely be DND rules 4 too.

I was going to say "In before Mikael raises a stink over something insignificant" ..I see that I'm too late

I hope they make it first person, using a cool engine like Gamebryo, and set it in the 50's.

Sweet.

It's kind of weird they want to continue it, though, the Throne of Bhaal pretty much ended the Children of Bhaal... hopefully, they will start something entirely new.

I don't know how I feel about this. BG and the rest were some of the best RPGs ever made, but these are being made by a pretty different crowd. But they will have the 4th edition rules (presumably) and all of the other D&D assets and mythology and such.

If it is a good RPG, I will play it regardless of the title. Everyone knows Dragon Age is the REAL spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. ;)

I'm not sure there's an appetite for this...

It'll probably not sell then they'll complain about piracy.

Never played Baldurs gate but have thought about getting them for awhile and Icewind dale,i have Diablo 2 though but i do like those type of RPGs.

I loved the original Baldur's Gate, I have loads of fond memories about it... I don't trust Atari not to mess it up but I'll check it out regardless :)

If they do a new Baldur's Gate WoTC is probably going to want them to do 4E Forgotten Realms.

Everyone you knew who wasn't an elf or a dwarf is dead. Also Spellplague.

Isn't Dragon Age the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate?

3D should be fine, worked well enough the way Obsidian implemented it for NWN2. Yes the camera behaved badly at times, but that's not a big enough problem to say the concept isn't sound.

If it ends up playing like a mixture of NWN2: MotB and NWN2: SoZ but with 4E and a better engine it would be pretty nice I expect.

Yes, to a certain extent, however, you can't have a real Baldur's Gate successor if it doesn't use DnD rules.:)

I seem to remember hearing a long time ago that 2010 wouldn't be an unlikely time to expect BG3. Hopefully they'll be targeting the same audience that Bioware are going after with DA, since DA will have been released and have whetted everyone's appetite for by-the-books fantasy RPGs by then. However the more I see of DA, the less I expect from it...

It's too early to spunk off everywhere and be entirely hopeful about this, but I'm not entirely skeptical either (until I hear the announcement that it's an MMO).

Maybe they'll just do something with the BG property instead of shitting up a proper sequel. A new Dark Alliance would be nifty, those were great fun in coop, if a bit simple.

Tech demo with non-adjustable graphics settings.

Yeah, so why would we want a game that looks like that?
