I just finished watching the 1 hour video and WOW this game is going to be AWSOME.. Anyways as i was watching this video there was a problem when they were loading the game and there system restarted and was in rebooting process and i just happin to see the video card that they were useing for the presentation it said 6800 LE model. If you look it up its a 128MB card with only 8 pipelines. When they were demonstrating the gamplay the game was running flawlessly so this game should run pretty damn good on our computers that have 256 MB card. Yet they still have a few months to polish the game he said in the video and optimize it to run on the lowest end computers. His requirments were to have 1.8 gig cpu 1 gig ram and 64 bit or 128 bit MB card. so i guess im set for BF2 ARE YOU :)

If you have any questions about the game and you have not yet seen this very informative video then let me know maybe i can answer them for you

Yeah, Im ready.

Intel P4 3.0GHZ 800fsb
X800 XT PE
1 Gig of PC3200 RAM

I just got done watching the vid too. That looked amazing. Im sure they'll drop the specs for the RAM down to 512MB. A lot of people are still on 256 and upgrading to 512MB.

DAMN, I CAN'T WAIT!!! I WANT IT NOW!!!!

I want to be a medic :)

Yeah sure. Thats what they said for BF Vietnam...

I hope they are set that low, because I might need to upgrade otherwise.

They said they aren't sure of the specs, and that they are always tweaking the game, I wouldn't take what he said as fact quite yet.

So many of us are gona get this...

We all gona have to play together some time. Thats for sure. :)

Too be honest, i wouldn't touch it with anything less then a Geforce4.

*orders more RAM*

Will a 128mb ATI Radeon 9800SE be ok with this game you think?

Very doubtful you would be playing it with max details but it will run the program at an enjoyable rate with enjoyable graphics, no problem.

crap, i need another gig. when is thing coming out again, i may have to go sli for this thing

I think its coming out around May-June. SLI is a little overboard though. A X800 XT PE/X850 or a 6800 Ultra should do the job. Or I'd just wait until it gets closer to shipping and then look at the benchmarks and determine what kind of hardware you need.

Damnit, I need a new computer. I have a 9800 Pro that doesn't work right with new games, I have 768 MB of RAM, and I have a 2.5 GHz processor. If you ask me, these requirements are pretty steep, considering even Doom 3's specs were lower. I think they were not sure at all, and they were taking a shot in the dark.

Well the game does envolve big open maps. So i'd expect the requirments to be high. Also there could be 64 players at any one time in the game, thats a lot of models and a lot of data to handle...

Not even BF:Vietnam runs on those specs.... :stare:

Hmmm...looks like I'm gonna have to turn textures down a lot (gotta have the char models and effects up :)). I'm sitting on 2ghz 512mb ram and a 9600 256mb :(

yay! im recommended for optimal performance! actually, a little better than that. i hope these requirements are right because they are lower than i would of thought. cant wait tho!

Remember that was by the fans and not official. In the video they teeter-totted between 512 and 1 gig and then they said 1 gig at the end.... I'm guessing you _could_ play on 512

And for those of you who are wondering why its like higher than Doom3

Well BF2 has MUCH more to calculate, and on top of that it is a almost purely MP mode (they said AI was vastly improved... we'll see) and during that you have to calculate every ragdoll, every small physics object (the big runs that can effect gameplay are done server-side) and then you have to have god knows how many textures in your VRAM at one time so if you have 64megs I would expect texture-thrasing.... AND your computer also has to tell the server the positioning, if it fired, whats the client doing at what time etc etc

In singleplayer games the specs are less because they don't have to calculate as much stuff... Instead of calculating stuff on the other side of the map, they just calculate things on one player...

So yea BF2 is going to make you upgrade (again).... God I hope they finish that machine that will in a few years allow you to literally print off new hardware... They can do like 3D Models, complex joints and such, and they are working on figuring out how to build transistors (google plz I don't have link readily available)

BF2 is worth the specs though :)

My Specs:

3.2GHz P4
1 GIG RAM
256mb nVidia 6800GTO

Oh and first poster, about your comment about the game running top-notch on that graphics card, remember they were running a LAN Game and who knows if they had MAX settings and at which resolution (It looked damn beautiful though in most parts, so hell I'll take those settings ;) )

Will this run on my 486? It ran spreadsheet so well...
Anyone that knows where that came from is officially a giant nerd. Sadly I remember :(.

Another reason this is so high: in the video he seemed to be suggesting recommended specs, not minimum specs. You'll likely be able to play it at lower, but not at extreme-glory graphics.

I remember the crow bar picture with the words "It's coming". That was the first news of hl2. Any who where can i get this huge video about bf2?

Sadly? Dude, that was like the single greatest moment of my life.
I laughed until I cried and then I cried some more, and then wet myself because the game looked so beautiful.

Look at my specs, I'm cool.

AMD Athlon 64 FX 51 2.2GHz
Gigabyte Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition
1GB RAM.

So when does it come out and do the guns actually make realistic popping sounds or do they have the tradition *BANG* sound? The clips show them with Black Hawk Down style popping gun sounds, but you know trailers...always making it look and sound better than it really is.

I'm sure they actually just recorded actual gun sounds and those are the ones used.

whew...i thought battlefeild would be high spec

i guess ill be playing this game pretty smooth on
AMD 64 3000
x800 pro
1gig of ram

They would be stupid to release a game that only runs on computers with a 256mb VC, 1gb ram, and over 3ghz. It might sell well at first but returns would be huge, it would just be idiotic. I cant beleive pc gamers with common since would beleive this. Im betting it will run on low setting on 64mb VC, 256mb ram, and 1.8ghz. You can probally put it on very high settings with some 128mb VCs, 512mb ram(optimized), and 2.5ghz+.
