New Black & White II movie - 15mb

:O  :bounce:
Oh my dear lord.
This game better not disappoint...
-lifts jaw off of floor-

:O

that was jus amazing - was hoping for more creature action in tht vid though

I hope the settlers are more clever this time around...the first one was a dissapointment because you used most of your time babysitting them...

That is one of the main things there changing. Settlers will now be ALOT smarter, you wont need to be digging up trees and throwing them food nonstop.

The first game felt too much like a glorified Tamagotchi sandbox to me. Settlers were pretty damn stupid, but the way you could throw them around and allow one thrown rock to pulverise entire communities... the physics were just great.

I just hated having a creature that shitted all over the place. Wow, it was fun being a toilet monitor for a shaggy-haired retard across short, surprisingly constrictive levels.

But the bottom line? The second one looks far better. And bless you StardogChampion for including the file size in the title. You're great.

I'm curious how much the creature AI has progressed, one of the things that made B&W fun (but still, it wasn't really a game). I had a tiger that pooped, then kicked it around to kill and destroy :D

There AI is alot better, also training your creature is much easyer, if your tiger in B+W2 throws his poop all over the village, you can select that and punish him for it, unlike B+W1 where you had to wing it and hoped he got the message.

I just used to make him eat it...

Yeah, I heard it's very binary this time, either punish or reward, no more slapping/petting.

They'd always vomit it out, there was no way you could teach him to actually eat it as dinner..

Yeah but still it was funny to watch him suffer for pooing all over the nice town I'd helped grow...if anyone is going to defecate on my people, its going to be me.

Not sure about that, but Im very sure you can select what your rewarding or punishing him for, if he killed somthing you can select it from a list and then punish/reward. Might of changed though, this was info I got from months ago.

On topic of video, I orgasmed twice.

I'm probably making this up, but I still thought it used the slap and stroke technique.

And...just how will you manage to play the game?

Example of how it will be..

Black and white one - You got a notice from one of your advisers telling you "Your creature is being a shithead again" or somthing, so you go up and slap him. With luck he didnt think or do anything after being a shithead, or you might of told him, for example, that going to sleep in the temple is bad.

Black and white two - You get a notice from one of your adisers saying "Your creature is being a shithead" or somthing, so you up and slap him still, but before you do that in the "Reward/punish screen" which works the same way (Right clicking to zoom in to him.. I think), you can select his thoughts or actions of late, for example "Being a shithead" then you can slap him.. and you will be punishing him for being a shithead.

You actually went back throughout the archives for that?

Heh, I remember reading that comic though.

EDIT: Just watched the video. Can't wait to make some torture pits. :D

The archives are easy to look at, each comic has the name of the game its from listed, so I didnt have to do any searching.

I'm looking forward to building the towns and promptly defecating(Before my creature gets a chance this time) on them...
or something godly anyway.

The idea of planning out your own towns a cities is something that really looks fun. Just one of those simple things that makes the game.

I've been waiting for this game ever since I beat he 1st one 2 years ago. This video just made me even more Impatient.

The video didn't impress me as much as I hoped it would for three reasons:
1.) The framerate really dove in some places. I would hope they would make the trailer on a state-of-the-art computer, thus why this worries me. Hopefully much more optimization is in store.
2.) The combat looks like a cheap Rome: Total War knockoff. I can't express how worried I am that the game will rely too heavily on combat and end up being an inferior RTS rather than an innovative god game.
3.) They seem to be downplaying the creature in this video. I hope that is just marketing and doesn't represent the final product.

Of course, I adored the first game, so maybe I'm in the minority in my opinions here.

I agree with all your points, combat did look abit crap, the arrows on old trailers looks so much more impressive, this one looked like it was done on a low end computer.

Black & White 2 Q&A

GS: We understand that many of Black & White 2's nuances and niceties are the result of a lengthy discussion we'll politely refer to as a "complaining session" between designer Ron Millar (whose previous credits include games in the Warcraft series) and you, but what else has gone into the game's design? How much time was spent in design before production began, and what was the design process like?

PM: The process that now exists at Lionhead is to start with a concept, and for Black & White 2, [the concept] is: Are you the god of war or the god of peace? From this point, we kick off research and development. And for Black & White 2, we totally revamped all the game technology, the graphics engine, the way the creature interacts and learns, and the physics engine--this phase lasted quite a few months until we ended up with a prototype. During this phase, we started to design the world and started playing it to death until we had the first playable version, which is what we showed at last year's E3. From there, we have moved on to full production, which is where we are right now. I think it's also worth pointing out that this project started with about 20 people, and currently, the team stands at just over 80.

Yeah, I've seen older videos which did look more impresssive, graphically anyway.

Narcolepsy, this is only one video so I shouldn't worry too much about the creature not being such a focal point. There have been enough other videos and interviews where the creature was talked about in detail and its deffinately going to be a bigger part of the game than it seems...

Which side are you going to be good or evil?

You better be good or else!

I'l probably be good.
I used to be good most of the time, though I was partial to the occasional human sacrifice :D
Thats a point...why did I have to give my own sacrifices? Like you'd have to sacrifice trees and such to yourself.

I was always good. My temple raised off the ground and my creature turned rainbow color. I'm glad they make the creatures golden instead of rainbow in this one.

Yeah the rainbow thing kinda put me off being too good. The evil ones just looked more capable.

That wasn't the case, mine kicked the crap out of people online. Besides the cheaters of course, but their animals weren't that smart since they never trained em.

All you did was pit your creatures against each other in a fight to the death.

Or just megablast the hell out of each other. Didn't have a single enjoyable experiance online.

I only played against friends, that's probably why. We would go into the center city ontop on the mountain and just trash the place by having out animals fight.
