In the month leading up to its release, Rolling Stone and UNCUT both issued five-star reviews for Modern Times, the highest rating given by both magazines. In Rolling Stone, critic Joe Levy called the record Dylan's "third straight masterwork." Critic Robert Christgau also wrote a positive review in Blender, describing it as "startling [and radiating] the observant calm of old masters who have seen enough life to be ready for anything -- Yeats, Matisse, Sonny Rollins."

I've already ordered my copy! Your turn!
I can't wait, really can't!

One of my tutors went to see him live and apparently his voice is piss poor now. I guess if all those mags say it's good, then it must be at least half-decent.

His voice is piss-poor now!? It was never great to begin with. Though you don't go to see Bob Dylan for his voice, you go because of the songs. I find it odd that Bob Dylan has strained his voice, though he has been singing for 40+ years.

He's amazing.

I Can't wait, he just gets better.

I've seen him live, his voice is a little weaker than it used to be but that should be expected. He's been doing this for a hell of a long time. He also doesn't play much guitar anymore, mostly sticks to the piano. I wonder if he's doing that with Modern Times.

I'm listening to it now.
It's pretty good.
