I've currently got a gigantic chieftec dragon and it's pissing me off carting it to and from uni and it's really quite loud! Could someone point me in the direction of a case which is 'normal' sized and comes with a quiet PSU? I'm looking to spend roughly £50 ($86), if you can't find anything for that with the PSU included, how about a cool looking case and recommend a quiet PSU and some quiet fans.

Thanks a lot, I've tried looking myself but I've not bought any hardware for about 2 years so I'm out of the loop a little bit :p

you're better off buying your case and power supply seperately. Most cases that come with psu's are generic crap, which you dont want. Premium cases ($150+) sometimes come with decent psu's ..look to antec they may have some cases that come with antec psu's

Antec would be the only company I'd trust with in-case PSUs. All others put crap PSUs in their cases.

I have an antec sonata II, and the case is very quiet, looks good, unfortunately my videocard and HSF fans are really loud, so it gets a bit noisy at times, but the PSU that comes with the case is an ANTEC 450w truepower 2.0, a VERY good PSU.

7th one down is within my budget.

Oh and case sizes; is a midi bigger than a midi? Sorry, I'm a bit rusty with the terminology :p

that's a typo ..it should read Mid Tower ..not midi Tower

mid tower is the middle of the road ..mini being small, full tower being big

what are the rest of your components ..350 watts isnt all that much for todays computers. Also mini towers are kinda small, especially with today's oversized graphic cards ..it might be a tight squeeze

if it was me I'd buy a good power supply and just use the case you have now

well quit psu's are quite expensive, Instead I would get one of those power supply rubber silencers for your psu and vantec stealth fans for your case. never tried it myself, but its a good concept lol. but iff your after a different case get an antec p180(made for noise dampening) and a nexus 500 watt quiet power supply. option 2 will run you roughly $250-$275. option 1 will run you about $50 assuming you have 3 case fans.

I've got 350 watts at the moment, running an XP 2800+, 9800 pro, 2 optical drives and 1 HDD. The one I've got now is a full tower dragon, it's just too big too keep moving around.

I don't plan on upgrading for another couple of years, and I don't think I'll have the cash too either. But if I do decide to, and assuming ATX is still in fashion, I could always buy a bigger power supply for my dragon later on as that beast should be able to fit things in for a while yet. But for now a smaller, quieter computer is what I want and I think that the Antec I posted should do the trick....!

ya if it's done you good so far then you wont need a bigger power supply till you upgrade the rest of your components
