New ATI drivers (4.9s) released with new Control Panel, now with .NET framework. Looks much better, cant wait to finish downloading.

That site I posted up top is a site that optimizes ATIs drivers. If you wanna get a little more out of your card, like 5-10 FPS in CS get them, theyre great.
 
:sleep: That new Catalyst Control Center isn't all THAT great in my opinion. Yeah, it looks sexy and all but some things I didn't like ex. 3D tab doesn't have both OpenGL or Direct3D sections.
 
ATI still only has the 4.8 drivers on their site... are you sure?
 
Well, I believe the 4.9s are released tomorrow, but the ones on the DNA site will be better, and theyre out now.

You aren't talking about the one they did based on the 4.9 BETA, are ya?

Yes, I guess they were based off the 4.9 BETA
 
Ya, they are official, DNA had its own 4.9 beta, and they are done. Get em while theyre hot!
 
the dna driver has a special install setting just for D3. You should check em out.
 
they are based off the Doom 3 4.9 BETA's they just included the OpenGL hotfix, the DNA 4.9 official drivers based off of Official 4.9's released from ATI wont be out till after the official drivers are released from ATI.
 
Don't fool yourselves.
The official Catalyst 4.9 will contain an updated version of the "Doom 3" Open GL driver.
 
This new driver will increase fps? because i mean with the system i have (sig) im only getting like 30 fps in Joint Ops.....but im getting another 512mb of ram so that should help ALOT right?
 
The RAM should help some, you should try the DNA drivers and use the Insane FPS install
 
are you POSSITIVE that this will increase my fps without risk of virus and whatnot? or should i just wait for the ATi site to put them up?
 
lol, no viruses man. They are legit drivers, I use em, Ive scanned for viri and used adawre, they are tottally legit.
 
OK ill try it out, the worst that can happen is i use rollback and go back to 4.8......

And if i set it to Insane FPS wont the quality be much worse?

EDIT: damn i have to go right now but can you tell me how to delete 4.8? cause i hear that what your supposed to do before installing a new driver.
 
Sorry if im too late but when you start the install for the DNA drivers it will uninstall everything you need to automatically. :)
 
Yeah ok i downloaded it, insane fps......and boy did they rise. I use to get about 30 fps in Joint Ops on medium settings now on almost all high settings i can get about 35-40. But it still does drop now and then. And now i get about 71 fps in cs...
 
Well I'm guessing the 4.9's won't be the drivers ATi is reworking their OpenGL path on. But I'd guess they'd give some performance boost as they've got all the Doom 3 and OpenGL stuff in there. But I'm guessing the drivers with the new reworked OpenGL path aren't coming out just yet.
 
That catalyst totally ruined doom 3, my eyes hurs when I'm reading the PDA and the title screen is allso like that. I installed ATI drivers again but its the same thing as before. How do you uninstall those drivers??
 
Running drivers on "insane FPS" mode, doesnt this compromise the level of detail etc?
 
I couldnt tell any difference oldagerocker, and Barney didnt say anything. Youd think it would but I dunno.

Correction: new ATI drivers not released. Current version: 4.8.

'nuff said.
 
Dude, Cybernoid, a official version is out, although not by ATI. DNA drivers had there own beta of their 4.9s, so there out.

No, the higher the FPS mode the less stable it is likley to be, but as of 2.9.4.9 it's considered 'stable'. I've been using Insane FPS since it was beta with no problems and a huge fps boost :)

The 4.9 Beta's ATI released, not the official ones! There will be new DNA 4.9 drivers once they are acutally released.


And yes, the DNA 'insane fps' options drastically lowers the visual quality. Even *I* can notice the difference, and I'm not usually picky.
 
Um these aren't official drivers they are BETA drivers, the DNA are based of the BETA catalyst 4.9. They will most likely make new pair of DNA's when the OFFICIAL 4.9s get released.

These are NOT official drivers, these are BETA drivers.

GAH.
 
There still stable and fast, who cares if their not "official", and they arent beta, they are based off a set of beta drivers.
