Worth it? All from newegg.com Anything youd change? Trying to keep it below $750. Ive got a monitor, keyboard, mouse speakers, sound card.

I can easily suggest a few things and it will be within your $750 limit.
The system you priced is good how it is and you don't need to change a thing but I can give you some suggestions and maybe optimize the parts/prices for ya.

First. A 9800SE has only 4 pipelines and 128 memory bus.
I would suggest getting a 9600Pro (Unless you were planning on modifying the SE) since it will perform the same and cost you less. Link

Why not go to Socket 754 instead Socket A. A lot less money than you would think.
A64 2800+ for $187 - Link
MSI K8T800 for $92 - Link

Dual channel memory on a AXP board doesn't mean much performance at all. Having the ability to upgrade to 1GB total memory is much more important IMO. Why not just get 1 stick of 512mb and save some cash for now. You would only notice a difference in single vs dual channel if it was a P4, and it would be huge.
Besides, if you do go Socket 754 it is single channel anyway. ;) - Link

I would recommend a Seagate over the Maxtor if you want a cooler/quieter drive. It will last a lot longer for sure. Plus save you a buck or two. - Link
OR
I would recommend a WD drive if you want the best performance. Again, you can save a few bucks as well. - Link
------
Those changes put you to $741.

If you are a big gamer that likes really high res graphics and would like to use AA/AF then I would suggest looking at this review so you can determine what is best for you.
AXP 2600+ and getting a 9800PRO
or
A64 and 9600Pro

btw They are releasing a A64 2600+ soon. :O

Asus, I just wanna say that Ive read a lot of posts of your on this board and your always helpful. It seems like you take a lot of time to answer these and even though you dont know the people youve helped personaly, you do anyway. Your a stand up guy, and a great member of HL2.net.

get cheaper ram and cheaper harddrive and witht he money get a64

Bravo, this muther****er Asus spends time on his posts, gotta love it. Even tho im a little discouraged that his name is Asus but talks about buying an MSI board? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

I agree tho, go socket 754 with a single stick of 512, take it from me. I have the exact mobo you do, and bought 2x 256. I felt stupid and had to sell them just to buy 2x 512.

Also, check your local classifieds paper just in case, since your on a budjet. I remember when I was in high school a few years ago, I was able to keep up computer wise with my friends with parents with fat wallets because of the classifieds. Most of it was still wrapped in the box.

definately recommend the 9800 pro
also, might wanna up the PS to 400w
as mentioned above, a socket 754 mobo is worth the slight price increase... especially for future upgrades

Ive made some changes, took advice from you all and Ive gone a little over budget, but not bad considering I forgot the 2 cd drives before somehow  . Hope this looks good? Thanks again Asus and everyone else.

I would suggest this memory instead of the kingston.
First, Twinmos is made by corsair. (Similar to how Asrock is made by Asus)
Second, the timings are an improvment.
Third, Kingston might have an issue with that board but the Twinmos do not. Link

Ok, changed the RAM for added stability also saved me a few bucks. Thanks Asus.

if i were you, i would get a much cheaper case, no floppy drive, no fancy round cables, and a smaller hardrive(do you really need 140gb?). that would give you more money toward a better video card. but thats just me. im not about unneeded extras, just great peformance.

I changed the cables becuase I like the case and I may need a floppy drive. I also dropped the HDD down to 80 GB to save some cash.

You can drop some of the cables off your list if you grab this SATA drive. ;)
Link
Why? Because SATA drives use the small orange cables included with your motherboard! :)
link

BTW rounded cables aren't recommend when used with fast drives like Harddrives. They have crosstalk among the wires sine they are in a bunch.

Dont some have copper sheilding that helps prevent data corruption or something like that.

Well, Normal IDE 40Pin cables (ATA100) have all 40 pins in a row.
Going to 80Pin (ATA133) they needed extra wires inbetween the live wires to absorb the crosstalk so they could go that fast. By taking the Ribbon cable that was Live wire-Ground-Live wire-Ground etc and putting them all together sort of defeats the purpose...
They do rap the copper sheilding around all the wires but not each one individually to protect them from eachother. hehe

Awesome!

There, 10 characters.

I grabbed another case too, its was cheaper, still came with fans and came with a 350W PSU so I could eliminate my other one, saving me some dough.

It says the other 2 are optional, does that just mean I can buy more and put em on, or does it mean I can get them with the case if I want em

It is telling you there is 1 rear fan mount and 2 front fan mounts.
It comes with the Rear fan. If you wish to use the front mounts you must buy a 80mm fan for each.

Recommend Vantec "ThermoFlow" fans

You can buy more and put them in. That case has slots up front for 2 80mm fans. A decent fan should run you 5 to 7 dollars through newegg.

I would pick up another fan to make sure you have proper airflow in your computer.
