Athlon 3800+ X2
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
2x 512 Crucial Ballistix PC 3200
2x eVGA 7800 GT
XFI Creative Sound Blaster
300gb Seagate Sata
Antec "Tru Blue" 480w PSU
XP120 + Sunon 120mm/SI-120 + Sunon 120mm

Custom made case with 2x 120mm fans. (Sunon...)

Thoughts?

Still can't decide between the SI-120 and the XP120. I've been thinking about it for hours now. Supposidly, according to Thermaltake, the XP120 will fit, but it will be touching other components with "no performance loss". Or I could get the SI-120, take a centigrade or two hit and have zero issues. I'm leaning towards the XP120 right now...

Hopefully I can get close to 3ghz.

My 3.0C's been good to me, but she's dying. I used to be at 3.8 stable. Now I'm looking at 3.39 with a random crash every now and then. =/

I highly doubt you could make it to 3.0GHz without having the CPU being: 1.) Fried; 2.) Completely unstable.

By close to 3 ghz I meant more along the lines of 2.6. :)

Hehe, sorry for the exadduration. I'm just really excited right now.

I always have myself a laugh when people's cpus die on them. Why not just use it as it comes out of the box, nice and stable for years?

Why do people mod cars? Why not just use them right off of the dealership? Nice and realiable for years...

Because it's fun. That's why. =)

And expensive, but if you do it right, you'll be doing the car and yourself a few favors.

My radiator just cracked to shit, so what am I gonna do? Blow $700 on a full aluminum aftermarket radiator that is both more efficient at cooling and practically immortal. (:

As a matter of fact it's the one thing stopping me from completely rebuilding my computer and getting away from 2001-2002.

Oh, and my car is 14 years old. (:
It was nice and stable for 105k miles til the rad cracked open.

By modding the car, I wasn't refering to buying new parts. Turbos, Super chargers and the like. I was refering to doing your own cost effective tune ups. High quality spark plugs, changing your oil regularily. Just getting a little more performance out of what you paid for. At any rate, I don't think I should have to justy my overclocking. :)

I don't think you need to justify anything. I just find it comical one would let their components fail premature of their expected lifespan when there's no aspect of direct competition.

A more accurate comparison would be like the difference between driving normally and running at WOT all the time i.e. racing professionally.

If you want a race car/overclocked pc by all means do it to it. I wont.

That's part of the catch with computer components. Take my 3.0C, perfect example. For half of her 2.5 years of life, I've had her at 3.8. The last six months, she's been dying. I'd say she has another two years left before she's back stuck at 3.0, or just dead. But what modern gamer would use a 4-5 year old CPU? So to me. The ends justifty the means. =)

Double the RAM and get a good hard drive(s). I would suggest a WD WD400KD. My machine runs great even being overclocked since the day it was built. I just dont push it to its complete max!

Can't double the ram. I'm re-using from my current rig. Otherwise I would buy that Corsair Value PC4000. People over at OCforums have been getting 250 on 2x1gb sticks. >.< And the hard drive I left out, it's a 300 gig Seagate SATA.

I think one gig will do for at least a year or two. But I can no doubt see UE3 or Oblivion benefitting from an extra gig.

I guess it doesn't matter as long as you get a few years out of it. I figure normal gamers upgrade once every two years anyhow.
I'm only on my third.
Celeron 400 > C 600 > P3 1.1
So by the time I get upgrade to 3Ghz in a few months I will have used my P3 for ~4 years. (:

Your 9800 Pro is being bottlenecked by your P3...

I know.
Playing Half Life 2 and CS:S made me very much aware of that. xD

My sig though true to what I have, is kept there as a joke because it seems to have been built in reverse.

Junkyards are your friend.

Actually, yes. Go to your local pick and pull. Grab one for 50 bucks. =)
Elaborating.
I live in a secluded state, so there are not many yards within driving distance.
Issue 2.
There are no junked Subaru SVXs in the state. I know this because I had a body shop pull a rear deck lid from the last junkied SVX to replace mine after an accident. That was over a year ago but I did call around for a rad.
Issue 3.
OEM radiator is faulty and almost guaranteed to crack on all models after ~100k miles.
Issue 4.
OEM is not an upgrade, therefore unacceptble. (:
Issue 5.
Rare car, very small aftermarket.
PWR doesn't ship outside of the continental 48 states so chances are no PWR rads even exist here.
I am using some connections through the moving business to get mine here.

When it comes to my car I have everything figured out, just as I assume you do with your new computer [parts]. :)

Then why did you buy that car?

And if you can't find it at a pick and pull, you're simply not looking hard enough. =)

I owned the previous gen of the car and bought this one on absolute impulse.
I have been learning by trial and error that this car is expensive to keep running but I love it so very much. <333333
We don't have pick n pulls. We have junk yards and you are not allowed to go into them.
All junked vehicles that come in are categorized and theirparts listed in a database.
Given the very finite number of yards within reasonable distance and fact everything listed, I was able to call every yard (multiple times) for parts.

Recently I also had to find a windsheild but none existed west of Utah and I bought that one for $950.

But enough of my life story. If I wanted to talk about this car all day I'd use the forum. ( http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/index.php? )
Which I do. ;D

im laughing at your pc specs, no offense but lawlz

Instead of X2 I would try the Dual Core Opterons. They're cost about same as the X2's but I hear they OC like hell.

Well, I got:

The 3800+ X2 and the 7800 GT for free. So I really have no options there. =)

Go ahead. If I was embarrassed I wouldn't put it there.
I play CS on the lowest graphical settings possible so my P3 can keep up.
Sometimes I own, sometimes I don't.

Honestly with a fairly old comp why post the specs? Usually it is for bragging rights but your comp pretty much blows...so why post?

Makes ya wonder why someone with a shitty comp would post their specs...what is the point?

What's the point of anything?
I'm not much of a bragger.

I think it's useful that if I have a problem running an app a quick look at my specs could provide a solution.

Example:
"Man this game/app/thing won't run"

"You computer is slow as ****. Get a new one."

"Oh thanks."

Having a rare car with engineered faults is not.

Yeah Subaru has been doing that for a bit, like the early WRX's with shitty 5 speed trannys. Worse than a dsm's tranny.
