Well i think it was a bit little? The barrel is very littel and were you hold the gun "the hand grip is to big. But any way it i kindof a good art.

i shud have been informed before it was movied...i posted in model and skins for it is not a piece of art it is ref for the model....i wanted criticism from the modelers perspective .....i wanted to know from people who are familiar to modeling and guns wether it was a suitable design and i wud have posted the 3d in the post as it came.

hmm... looks alright, although it has an extramly short barrel. :)

The barrel shouldn't be that low. You need to move it up towards the top. The barrel also looks too fat. I like gun2 because the pistol grip isn't as long but the pistol grip it self is too angled. To get an idea what a real gun looks like check my attachment. I know you aren't going for the same look but it'll give you an idea of the proportions of a gun. It's a standard .45 USP by the way.

The angle of the grip looks like it would be a bit uncomfortable. But bettter than I could do :)

EDIT: Woohoo! USP, good choice Pressure

the barrel is a cylinder from the side view unshaded
i totaly agree the barrel shudnt be that low
the handle however ..i kinda imagined it that way ..u think it wud really feel uncomfortable like that?.
if u can give me key places to improve the handle ill make a new version.
ill post an edited and shaded version soon.

I just got one in real life and it's a great gun. :)

I envy you Pressure...I really, really do... ;)

Hope you like it, have fun on the range :)

slow but steady progress what do u think guys....pls point out areas of error......i know its not that great im still working on it.

... Well... The handle is, umm... Let's say thing; I wouldn't be able to shoot straight forward without having my wrist in an uncomfortable position. What you need to do is to make the handle/grip less angled, or else it wouldn't be realistic to fire it at all...

Above that I thougth the gun was too short seeing as how the silencer would make it kind of ugly, but then I realized it was actually a sleak gun design and started to like it... So fix the problem and I'm happy ;)

yeah the gun is for a character its suposed to have that kind of small but powerful look like it cud pack a punch ...so im going to scale it bigger but with the same proportions and about the handle i think that ive spent too much time on the drawing nad ill just model the corrected handle

hmm... I ought to start drawing and do models. Thing is I don't get the texture thing (How to make them realistic). A good modeller can skin his own models, even though it's not always requierd. But hey, good luck mindless and show me the end-result.

The barrel is still too low.

AFAIK the visible cylinder at the top is the barrel, so it should be the same height as the barrel at the tip of the gun.

Look at the image attached for reference and explanation.

i did solve a bit of that if u check the painted gun ....but i think it needs to be raised higher.

Alright.

#1. The grip angle is still a bit too extreme. I've attached a pic of a Luger (which is said to be very comfortable to fire) overlayed on your gun. As you can see, the front angle is about the same but the back tapers so the persons wrist would be slightly farther extended than with the Luger.

#2. Having the barell low is OK. Its not a problem. There have been several handguns produced with the barrel beneath the spring assembly and they work perfectly fine. Its just not the usual thing to do. However, if it does have the barel below, the slot you have cut in the slide would then serve very little purpose since the ejection port would be low and on the other side.

#3. How does ammo feed into this gun? I skimmed the thread but couldnt find any info on that.

#4. What the heck is that thing ahead of the gun. Suppressor? Flash hider?

yeah its the supressor i thot taht part was obvious ?..
the magazine was not made it goes straight into the handle as usual
cna i see that luger overlay if u ahve time?

Uhh, gun and gun2 look the same to me...

They're both pretty good though...

You didn't compare the two side by side, TST, one handle is a bit different (Shorter) then the other.

I put the two windows side by side actually...and bottom by bottom or w/e

Notice how much thicker the handle is on the back on the luger... Doesn't really add up mate.

a designer needs common sense, a feel for ergonomics, and a fairly good knowledge of guns and how they work.

"common sense"
i wasnt looking at the practicle perspective but more of the appeal..and it appealed ot me.
im so sorry if it appears that im jsut too stpuid to notice it but i feel that handles are a problem for any concept designer.

which is why i posted it here to get comments before doing the actual model and as u can see my handle isnt very diff from the luger which acording to ductonious is quite comfortable.

I wasn't trying to be judgemental, nor did I mean to imply that you don't have any common sense or that you're stupid. I was just stating some general things to keep in mind when designing guns.

I've dealt with this sort of thing before, and I just wanted to be of some assistance.

If you'll still accept my help, then take a look at this thread: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20253

just trying to help, no need to get defensive. I wasn't critisizing you or your work.

edit: btw, your gun looks great, nonetheless.

Wow, um... hey. I'm here from a Google search that has nothing to do with this thread :)

Nice gun.
