The latest issue of the German PC Games magazine has an exclusive video of Counter-Strike: Source in action as well as talks with Valve’s Erik Johnson and Jess Cliffe. The footage is somewhat low quality but shows a number of refurbished maps and what happens when you shoot a watermelon with an MP5.[br][br]Because it’s a magazine exclusive we can’t post links to it here but rest assured there will be more Counter-Strike: Source videos appearing on the web very soon including the high quality version of the E3 2004 presentation.

You're not allowed to post the link, but you are allowed to post screens? Oh well. The vid states near the end that CS:S will be a free addon for HL2 buyers btw, as I posted in the CS:S forum section. Perhaps someone german who has the vid can confirm it. Even then it's only a magazine saying it of course.

We can post this few aye.

Don't turn this into a 'PM me the download link' thread, posts will just get deleted.

Funnily enough, Munro only got those screens by downloading the video himself..

Anyhow, doesn't matter to me, I got to see it. Looks great, though :)

Just saw.

I have to say it was a major let down from what I've seen - some wall textures looked like from HL 1, but I suppose they are placeholders - others were bump-mapped and looked nice. The graphics look very...well....HL2 looks far better than this by miles, they really didn't impress me. I suppose it's due to the shaky cam but something just didn't click.

The inside interiors were nice - but not as exceptionally well looking as HL2. The gameplay seems the same gun changing, running around like stuff....meh.

its over at the steampowered forums in the counter strike forums, but they are calling it CS2...freaking n00bs!!

Ok, explain how you can judge what it looks like from that crappy vid.

Read: CS on the Source engine

Yes, I know. I was expecting something slightly fresh - but seems valve has done very less to change the CS gameplay at all. Then again, it's not a sequel and only a port - but the use of physics should have been displayed in more detail, how they could affect the gameply (I think Erik was trying to talk some more about it untill the German commentator butted in)

Pretty sure that was a German translator, therefore, they didn't butt in :)

Anyhow, I'm glad they didn't change the gameplay in CS. I've always wanted a more graphical, better looking version of CS. CZ is as close as they've gotten thus far, and CS:S looks even better

One sec, that first sequence they show with horrible graphics- that actually looks like the old map from the original cs. I confused it to being CS source, becuase in the second sequence it seems to be the same place but much better.

Well, I guess you're not a huge fan of CS ;) Seeing as how you should've realized that instantly

maybe hes partially blind, and cannot see without his specs. ><

the guy who made the avi did filmed a freaking tv with a tripod, the graphics arent going to look good on a tv with scan lines

Sorry. :( haven't played CS for ages.

With all these UE3 Vs. Source threads my faith in source's capabilities has fallen a bit - so I literally thought it was Cs:s :p

Quite alright, for a moment, I thought they were lazy and didn't remake the map and they were to show the new player models running around on the old italy.. I was relieved to see the actual CS:S footage after that ;)

they just talk about what you see though.
bigger maps, integrate physics into gameplay step by step....

I was confused at the beginning too.. im like wait a second..

I thought source was suppposed to look better? so i started to cry but then it was as if god had wipped away the old and brought forth the new and I was staring at a map that looked like a wet dream of mine.

Not seriously but damn, they did a GREAT job with the looks. DE_dust! holy crap! I was like woah...

and I do have the fusion pack for CS. It makes counter strike look and sound better. I like it.

Physics will be awsome :D

where is the video on the site?

btw, did anyone say whether you could post a link?

edit: nvr mind about the link

I'm not going to go to those threads, but its a little unfair to compare a next-gen engine (UE 3) with a current engine.

i thought it was obvious that the first seen was old italy, and the one after that was the exact same, only under the new source engine. Kinda a 'wow' effect when they show them one after another, just like the did with hl2.

I may consider kissing Gabe's feet, if they re-texture HL1:source  , its a possibility

Why are the characters running around all hunch-backed?
That's how you hold a submachine gun/rifle in combat.

The itsy-bitsy tidbits of gameplay were awfully fuzzy ;( Gabe?,Jess?,Erik?,Rick? pleeez...somebody release some of the real crack(high-quality binks) :frog:

I find it hard to believe that it's not allowed, yet there it is staring at you on Valve's own official STEAM site...

Edit: Nvm, quality (or lack therof) not worth extrapolation. Wait for it. ;)

Something I noticed in that video: there's no Aim!!!

What do you mean? Do you mean no crosshairs? I'm sure they were just taken out for the video.

Look carefully - the crosshairs are there but in white. They have been toggled off from most of the video but obviously they'll be there.

In reality there should be no crosshairs (with obvious exceptions). We'd all learn where the gun is pointing before long.
