New crysis video

Neat! I only vaguely gathered that you'd be fighting aliens in this game before.

This has been posted before and is very old :/

sry...had to say it.

The story sounds great, It's simple and to the point with mystery all the way as to what the aliens look like and how you might beable to finally defeat them.

Meteor crashes

Act 1 - fight the Korean forces to get to it and investigate, along the way asteroid breaks open and an alien object reveals itself inside then flash freezes part of the Island.

Act 2 - fight the aliens and their machines in their frozen environment

Act 3 - fight the aliens inside their ship, in zero G. Descent style.

Sounds like a hoot. I wouldn't care if Jeff the marine has got a developing hernia or has some secret agenda where he's really on the mission to look for his bastard alien child when the mission itself is pretty interesting and on such an epic scale.

A quote about act 3 from PC gamer

" I swore on my life of my first-born nerdling that I wouldn't reveal what the aliens looked like, but I'll tell you that the animations in this portion of the game are some of the best I've ever seen; it took a minute to get through my head that I wasn't looking at pixar quality pre-rendered graphics"

Looks like I will be needing a psysics card of some kind by then...

Great film, really shows alot of great features from that game, even though that guy is annoying as hell " you can control the vehicle you can go forward and back" ORLY.

negative. a physics card isnt going to be needed for crysis. it uses its own physics engine wich uses the cpu and slightly the gpu to render physics.

DAMNIT HAZAR! AHHH!

DAMNIT! WTF WERE YOU THINKING!?

;)

No physics card needed eh? Well I'm not too surprised, the physics were nice but there wasn't anything insane.

Everything looked great up until the whole punching dynamic. "You can get super strong and punch down trees and buildings."

The immersion is kinda lost with me when that happens. The guy swings like a Rock'Em Sock'Em Robot too. :p

i dont get people's argument about the punching nonsense. I think you can only use it as a cheat. If im wrong, is it really that hard to not punch stuff? I dont think so.

I don't get it either, if you think its lame.. don't punch stuff?. I'm sure they'll spruce up some of the animations they feel people don't like seeing as it was a demo.

But being made super strong by a nano suit developed in 2020 and punching stuff isn't that dumb. It's not like you can punch cars off the road , just some small trees and some shanty like propped up huts.

Sounds fun if you want to give it a go.. go stealth and punch a small tree so it falls onto someones head, lol.

Okay.. Then Im worried itll cost too much CPU power ;)

What I don't understand is how the GPU helps render physics. Can you explain?

Didn't they say a while back that a dual core processor would be the best, if so then that will take care of the physics easily without strain.
