Well since I have nothing else to do. I will try it out. Maybe now you could possibly make a skin for the CTS? :)

EDIT: I seem to be having trouble downlaoding it. Seems the file is corrupt

Anyone else think these models look cartoony?

EDIT: im not criticising the skin - the model itself.

They dont seem to match their surroundings imo. The maps are brilliant with amazing realistic textures - but i dont believe you can say the same about the character models.

It may be because valve had a back catalogue in a sense of textures that they had already crated for HL2 to use for the maps, but had to fashion player models together quickly.

they are great models.. but you are correct, they do seem "cartoony" (said the same thing to my brother last night when we playing)

mostly just the Terrorists though.. and I think its the "the sock on my head makes me look like I should be pushing a shopping cart" motif they have going on.

the CTs look great however. (as in not as cartoony)
another minor nit-pick would be that no models have any lip-synching (even normal cs had this).. I dunno... I didnt even consider the possibilty they would leave that out before.

Lol

Yeh, i am nit picking to be honest, and i agree it's more of a terrorist thing. Are we expecting an update soon with the other player models, or will the next update be with the release of HL2?

Im sure they have completed many more player models, as well as maps... they just want to tease us. Hopefully they will release the next batch of maps soon..

the hostages have lip-synching (i think). when you shoot them, they say 'ow' or similar, and their lips move accordingly.

do lips not move when you use voice thing?

yeah the hostages do, but I was talking about player models specifically.

they do not lip synch when you talk on your mic (like old cs models did even)

Just looking at that model has me excited, for what you may ask? Well just think of the amazing shit people are gonna come up with, not even just in CS:S, I mean in all the mods, imagine how detailed zombies can get now in the zombie mods coming out, not to mention the update models in the Half-Life 1 remake that will undoubtably be put out.

This is an exciting time for games people. Modmakers are going to surprise us time and time again I expect.

on the steam forums some individual posted a cool mod to the original skins... that made the fully bump mapped, i suffered no fps loss with these models and they look fantastic in the light.

eheh, well the guy had 1 post, and i didn't want to click on a jpg of 3 old men humping or a horse screwing a man, so just wanted to make sure :dork:

got any tutorials on how to edit the textures ? and how can it be Valve authorized, did you ask them ?

I don't know of any tutorials on the web, I just used some of the tools people use to make CS:S custom sprays. It is allowed the same way people made custom skins for CS1

i didnt pay 60 bucks for an expaned Beta it roxx so far but its gettin boring already

I'm having problems with this skin. At first things seemed hunky dory, but soon I started to see odd colorations in the textures, as so:

csstexture1.jpg

csstexture2.jpg

Being the lazy me, I decided to delete the skin from the directory while CS:S was still going, which produced this interesting glitch:

cssoops.jpg

Reloading CS fixed the reflective skin problem, but the texture colorations still exist, and neither reboot of CS:S or Steam has fixed this. Any input?

cool looks like invisible :rolling:

Nice.

But whoever mentioned they'd like to have the elite's back...You can die. That is all.

hey man thats wirerd! However im 99% sure my skin did not cause that wierd discoleration. I think you have some other problem going on. Is your video card ok? Latest drivers?

I only mention the skin because this is something I've never seen, and I've been playing since the Beta. But the very first time I load the game up with the new skins I see this stuff springing up everywhere, so naturally my assumtion leads to the skins as the problem. My drivers are definately up to date (got the newest omega build for my at 9600xt).

BUT, I do realize it seems odd for the skin to be at fault, so that's why I was more asking for input on what people may think the problem could be instead of me just pointing a finger :) Admittedly, your skins looked great, but these colorations popping up are quite distracting.

Yea I understand I was just saying I dont think custom skins are at fault.
Not just my skin but all custom skins :)

I don't know about the multi color crap, but the chrome effect on player models is from no texture being loaded I belive.

Are you using Omega drivers?

"Today I tried out the Omega drivers after hearing other ppl post they get better FPS. So I try them out and ya, I get 5 fps more but nothing big. I leave them on since they're not doing any harm....or so I thought.

Later I was playing CS:S in Havana when the graphics became really wierd and messed up looking. Weird multicolored symbols and crap were all over the textures! Just as I was about to exit so that I could reboot, the computer locked up. I had to hit the reset button on the computer."

hope that helps.

Yeah I am using Omega. Maybe I'll try switching back to the ATI catalyst and see if that fixes it. Thanks for the heads up.
