anyways im sorry if this is old news straight from pc zone:

We thought it was hard enough waiting six years for the original game, but the interval between the first two episodic Half-Life 2 chapters is proving more agonising than a sandpaper water-slide. Unfortunately for us, these first Episode 2 details are about to make the interim even harder.

In an exclusive reveal, Half-Life 2's second episodic chapter is detailed for the first time in the latest issue of PC Gamer US. We probably don't have to warn those afraid of spoilers to stop reading, but just in case:

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT.

Promisingly, Episode 2 is set to feature as many different environments as Half-Life 2 itself, with a missile silo and mine shaft heading up the list of locales. In the story department, Alyx Vance and Dr. Freeman are still on their way to deliver the mysterious combine packet. Apparently the next episode will also flesh out the equally-mysterious Vortigaunts, and even more perplexingly the G Man.

Advertisement:We're also excited by the promise a Mad Max-style ramming vehicle, used in Episode 2 to charge through armies of new 'Mini Striders', first seen in the teaser trailer on the right of this page. A brand new weapon is also promised, the 'Strider Buster'. We don't know much past the name, but we're told it will be used to target the Strider's new "weak spot" to devastating effect.

New functionality is also promised for the gravity gun, and a new yet-to-be-announced multiplayer game is set to ship alongside Episode 2. Are our lucid Team Fortress dreams finally about to come true? We haven't got long to find out.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is planned for release this Christmas.

Yup I heard it too but it is refreshing to see in writing again. Can't wait for the hunter or the strider buster wonder what the finished model will look like. Is it a big RPG, laser ma bob or something original or different oooooo the mystery I also can't wait to see how the G man reacts to your escape and how the vortigaunts are "fleshed out".

Very doubtful that they're going to cast any more light on the vorts or the G-man. Valve said Ep. 1 would and ... well, not really.

But a ramming vehicle, now THAT entices me. "Ramming speed!"

But this looks quite promising as we have dialogue from the vorts that is cryptic which may suggest that valve is actually going to do something with them this time round and last time the only thing we had to go on that they would flesh out the G man is the line "we'll see,..... about that" which was his only line lol. So they may not do much with the G man but it seems almost certain they will do something with the Vorts.

They're not idiots

They will tell us what we need to know in Ep 3. I personally don't want to know what the Gman is, just hoping to learn what he wants.

Same here, finding out what GMan is will take mystery away from the game but finding out what he wants might open new doorways.
