Below is brand new concept art produced for Episode 3. The art is produced for the 'Into the Pixel' art collection exhibition this October at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The exhibition is an opportunity for video game art to be more highly recognised and appreciated, something which this image should do extremely well. Into the Pixel Website and More info at CVG (thanks to Lobster for the scoop)[br]Art title: Advisor, Artist Names: Ted Backman, Jeremy Bennett and Tristan Reidford, Game: Halflife EP3[br]

Whoa, Samon will like this. if he hasn't already seen it.

Very nice. So I guess this means the trip to Borealis either doesn't take very long or doesn't happen at all since it seems from this, we'll be going back into the Citadel.

Or does concept art have nothing to do with storyline?

Or some kind of other Citadel in a different city.

I guess this confirm we will fight a advisor

also maybe we go to the combine world?

I wanna know who is that shadow figure behind the adviser (Freeman perhaps?), this is quite interesting.

Actually looks like the outline of a Metrocop with a stunstick.

This looks far more epic or important than a typical citadel.

Looks like it's shapes and formations are inspired by ice. Perhaps this is a citadel in the arctic?

BAM

Well, they built their stuff pretty fast around the ship.

The web is abuzz over what some believed to be the first concept art of Half-Life 2: Episode Three from an exhibit of video game art called Into the Pixel. And some are so wrong. The first concept art from Valve?s episodic blockbuster actually appeared in the pages of PC Gamer magazine in our November 2007 issue!

That was our cover story and review of The Orange Box, and our exclusive render showed what appeared to be a group of Advisors floating in what we presume to be the icebound Borealis, a research vessel that was once operated by our friends at Aperture Science.
From Game Radar - Impressive picture, we knew the combine had located the Borealis otherwise they wouldn't had the footage of it on the data transmission Alyx intercepted. The unfortunate revelation is that the combine have it well fortified and under control with their distinctive citadelesque walls. Who knows what this will mean, and how the advisors are using it. The usual speculation would be advanced portal technology developed by Aperture being interpreted for the combine to improve teleportation universally to invade many more planets....:(

Good thing I didn't put 'first' episode 3 concept art eh? ;)

Well, actually, no, that was Mossman's transmission, not the Combine's. :p

With the Combine currently stranded on Earth they probably want to use the vessel to re-establish a connection. A kind of last ditch attempt.

Revenge...

Though this is an early concept of what our fight with the Advisor (or Advisors) is going to be, it looks like we're going to have some awesome arena or something.

Revenge...

Wait, now I saw the Borealis picture. Oh...shoot. How long has that been under their control? This could be another way to get the Combine through, like they were attempting in Episode Two (and sort of in Half-Life 2). And of course, they want it to use it for whatever other power means they can find. Another Citadel power core maybe?

Episode Two ending spoiler and judgement for outcome of Episode Three:
And judging by something important that Eli said prior to death (can't control that much or that kind of power), if we're given a choice, the winning choice will be to let the Combine attempt to do something and then blow themselves up (blowing themselves up is being said in the term of defeat, but not total). That would probably result in the destruction of the Borealis. If we're not given a choice, then either we'll blow it up early or the Combine will.

When I imagined the Borealis in the arctic I thought it was just going to be the ship in the water, like it looked in the Episode 2 videos. I thought the scenery was going to be pretty boring, but this looks incredible.

Wait, now I saw the Borealis picture. Oh...shoot. How long has that been under their control?

Well, Mossman's footage was less than an hour old when you first saw it in the Citadel. At the time of EP3, it's been two full days.

****shit.

Damnit, damnit, damnit.

This looks incredible.

It looks like they're building a Citadel right on top of it.

Maybe we get to blow stuff up with a atom bomb, then their is not enough time to escape so you have to go into the ship and steal a Stargate/portal thing =P

I doubt that, we don't have any atom bombs for what I know. And the Combine could very well have used them in several occasions if they had any.

Why should they use an atom bomb when they can just put a few Striders there?

If the Borealis is an ice cutter ship it is more than likely a nuclear powered vessel. Use your imagination.

SECOND RESONANCE CASCADE WooOOoOooooO

I thought that was obvious. : /

The second Eli started going on about "Not another Black Mesa" and, you know, Aperture Science being in more or less the same business as Black Mesa...

So I guess by the look at this artwork, it essentially says that earth is screwed?

Wow! Those look like Advisors hanging there, lord knows they're tough! :sniper:

They're not tough. They don't even know who they're dealing with. Ph34ar the almighty crowbar ffs!
