Eleven years after its initial broadcast, a new theatrical version of Neon Genesis Evangelion has been slated for production.
This new project, with the tentative name of Neon Genesis Evangelion New Theatrical Version – REBUILD OF EVANGELION, began from the idea of director Hideaki Anno to dub the original TV series and movie the “Old Century version”. It will clear up the unknown mysteries of the original version.
This theatrical version will be produced in four parts. The first, second and third parts will be based upon the original drawings of the television series, reanimated and shot in 35mm film, with new backgrounds and scenery as well as many new scenes. Also, the final part, which will be shown simultaneously with the third part, will be a totally new production. This new theatrical version will truly be a “rebuild” of Evangelion.
