Just got the new Firefox 4.0 beta survey about what I think about paying for addons and such.

I really hope they don't go down this road. I don't use a whole lot of addons myself but having to pay for them would just suck.

Then you'd better say you would never pay for addons!!!1

This would be a very bad thing for Firefox, one that might make me switch to *gasp* Chrome. There's enough micro-transaction exploitation going on around the internet as it is.

There are some add-on's I wouldn't mind giving some money for their hard work for.

I'd give it to them too, as a donation. I don't have any desire to see FF become some avatar of open-source Apple wannabes. I'd rather it stay true to the meaning of FOSS, app stores are not part of that.

Well said.

I wouldn't pay for the ones I use. I'd wait for someone to make them on Chrome and then use Chrome ffrom then on.

There's already an option to give donations to add-on creators on the add-on page, STFU firefox

You would probably get some pretty cool addons though if companies could make a profit off them.

Me personally? IE for the win.

Switched to Chrome about 9 months ago. Haven't looked back.
