I am considering buyin a new Graphics card to replace my Nvidia Geforce FX 5200.. I heard of Graphics card like Sapphire and ATI.. But i wanna know what is the BEST graphics card i can buy for HL2 that will run Lost coast and have ALL settings on HL2 to MAX.. Thank you in advance..

The best graphics cards on the market at the moment are the ATi X850 XT 512MB and the nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB as far as I know.

If you're looking for the best of the best, I'd wait a little while longer for the next generation to appear before buying anything. Not only will the cards be significantly more powerful, but their arival will also lower the prices of the currently leading cards.

Well if anyone has That graphics card.. Could some1 post some In-game screenshots to show me how powerful it is... (for example post one of the Ground.. to show it on HIGH, Cuz on my it is Pixelated, and also show the models faces.. cuz on my it is always pixelated)

If you want the best of the best your guna be looking at Nvidia cards, Nvidia = more stable and well just better  .

Id wait for the next gen from Nvidia though... as the guy above said its guna be faster  .

i don't recommend the X800, most hardware complaints I see on this board are users useing it; sometimes I hear ppl moaning about 30FPS in CS:S to.

so hang on to that FX5200 (like me) and wait on the next generation from Nvidia.

i recomend getting two nvidia 6800ultra 512 MB and making an sli system, the graphics are really lovely, thats what im currently using

How exactly are Nvidia's more 'stable'?

and if people are complaining about 30fps in CSS with an x800 then they've got something wrong with their PC. I get no less than 90fps

I just saw a Radeon 9800 Pro 256-bit 128mb on newegg.com for only $127.00. Super deal if your not too into gaming and just want good performance with a low price.

Heres the 9800 Pro-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102362

I must disagree with you there. I bought a ATI Radeon 9800 None Pro, and to date, there is not a game it can not play at medium to high graphic settings.

Seconded, I had one and loved it. I just uprgraded toan x800xl and love it even more
What's that crap about Radeons being less stable? Completely unfounded.

what is FPS? why do people worry about it?

Frames per second.

People worry about it cause it's basically the entire thing you update a gaming computer for!

High fps = smoother, faster games

low fps = jerky, slow games
