if you like finding the G-man and youve beaten the game(or havent) and your trying to find him everywhere,the listing lies.
if you dont use cheats and/or refuse to use cheats till you beat the game you should stop reading now,as it require spawning and noclip.
on route canal,unless you already have cheats activatedand console,hit the escape key,go to options and keyboard,under advanced select console to be active.type in noclip(impulse 101,god,notarget,etc are optional) and fly out of the map.look around and you should see a tiny room out somwhere.noclip into it,and youll see the G-man acting as if he were sitting down on a chair,which he really isnt,and is just floating.he will not run away and will not disappear,just sit/float there.gave me the creeps.
if youve seen war of the worlds and want to turn it into half life 2 style or just want to have a nice little mini-war follow the same console activation codes and noclip (impulse 101,god and notarget are required) out.on the first few levels,or maybe all,theyll be this strange mini-map full of houses and a citadal sized to the point where Dog could pick it up.now spawn striders with the give npc_strider code and while still using the give npc_<input npc name here> and place helicopters,dropships,gunship and any other alien-like craft you want! now go back to the map,and youll find all the npcs you spawned,only half the size of the citadel!!!it turns out,anything on those mini-maps will become giant becouse of reasons i have not yet concluded.now spawn the same types of things you spawned that are now giants around the area.find a small little fort or open area and spawn a bunch of citizens armed with rpgs,shotguns anything they can carry.(E.g a crossbow could not be carried by any npc) now watch them attack the enemies.but be warned,if you kill/spawn to many npcs the map will start to disappear in most areas until you walk into them.this cannot be avoided for the mini-war.
i found these mini-wars quite fun to make.i didnt know where else to put the thread,so i thought maybe here..anyway,have fun with the mini-war.
