Hi!

I was thinking of replacing my old G4 TI4200 128Mb with an Sapphire Radeon 9600XT Atlantis 256MB DD AGP (including HL2), but I don't know how much performance I will get out of that card compared to the G4 card, is it worth to buy the Radeon 9600xt or should I keep my G4 card? What do you think?
Help would be appreciated! ;)

Buy the 9600XT. I believe it's a lot better for HL2. (they hardly cost anything these days anyway, so go for it)

Yeah, thats what I thought too... Was a little unsure though, needed to ask someone just in case... But thanks anyway! I'll go buy it now!

You may want to check in to a 9800 Pro. The 9800 Pro will give you better performance for the same price.

For a good place to order computer parts (in the US anyways) go to newegg.com

Yeah... I found this one... Is it any better compared to the 9600xt, even if it is 128Mb..?

a 9600 may give you similar FPS to your gf4 4200 in some games.
It will give you a boost in FPS for games like HL2/Farcry with the added DX9 effects/features.
A 9800pro would give you a boost in all games over your gf4 4200 compared to the 9600. The 9800pro is a ex-400$ card. The 9600XT started as a 200$ card.
The 9800pro has fallen in price a lot and is the best buy.

The 9800 pro is much much faster.

Is a comparison using a fairly common game, UT 2K3 is indicative of the results you will see with these cards. Note this doesn't include the newest generation of cards, and you may want to wait for that, but expect to pay hefty sums (300+)

Personal suggestion: Look for a 9800 non pro, or a pro if you find it at a good price. The 9700 pro is also a good option.
