New Graphics Card.

[Abs]

At the moment Half life 2 runs ok, but lags sometimes and can get quite annoying, to solve this I am wanting to upgrade my Graphics card and Ram.

Currently I have:
Geforce 5900
768Mb of DDR Ram - (upgrading to 1024)
Intel 2.8 Ghz (Pentium 4 I think)

My question is, what graphics card should I get?


I was thinking a either,
Novatech 128Mb Geforce 6800 (Priced at £82.19)

I would have bought a Ati, but Ati vs. Nivida is mostly a personal thing. If I had to chose from those two I would have taken the 6600, future games will require more memory, so I think you can live longer with the 6600.

yea your correct about newer games need more memory but the 6600 only has 128bit memory and the 6800 has 256bit memory so the 6800 would be better
also 6600 only has 8 pipelines and 6800 has 12 and a possibility to open the other 4 pipelines and vertex shader

No. The 6600 has 256mb memory, the 6800 had 128mb memory, I agree with pipelines thogh.

yes but 128bit memory is to slow to run 256mb of memory thats what i was saying 6800 is better anyways 256mb or not
