I'm going to be buying a new guitar within the next few months and I'm doing a bit of research on which type I want. I found one that really peaked my interest, the Gibson Fade SG Special. My friend has one of these and it was absolutely amazing. It was a lot lighter than my Les Paul Special II and it had a better feel to it. If you have anyone suggestions feel free it share them. Please keep it under $700 if possible, going a little over won't be bad either.

I'm also going to be buying a new amp at the same time as I'm getting the guitar so I'm doing my research on those. Right now I'm looking into the Line 6 Spider II model because I've heard one before and it sounded pretty damn good. I like the built in effects on it. If you have any suggestions for an amp please share. Try to keep the amps under $400 please, again going a little over won't be too bad if it's worth it. I want the effects too so if you got a nice suggestion for an amp with effects please post it. If you got an amp and a pedal post both but make sure their combined price is under $400.

I personally love the musicman evh but... its like 2-3k if you can find one. They stopped making them but they are the most beautiful guitars ever. And I have never in my whole life played a better guitar.

Also be prepared to not be able to use a whammy bar with that guitar. While I never ever use one, its good to at least have the ability to use one because you get some really good and cool sounds with one.

My current guitar doesn't have one either and it hasn't bothered me.

i have a gibson sg, and thats my only baby.
its a great guitar, but sometimes i wish it had more of a varied tone to it (eg: like a stratocaster.) But nevertheless it has a great warm tone thats great for distort. and such. Great w/ marshall amps (which i have also) and its lightness is awesome. haha. but it dents easily and mine has already 2 dinks on it... ashamed haha. but its good. (1200$.. around there, got it from GC)

for amp, if your lookin for varied, yet high quality tone, go try out vox amps.. thats my next item in my wishlist...

cheers.

Yes, thats the way forward. Amazing amps, them. I used one in college recently as part of a GCSE recording. Man, I deserve to get extra marks just for the pure sound of the peice I played through that beast.

I swear by Ibanez/ESP LTD and mesa boogie, triple rectifier w00t

oh, i completely forgot about the spider II amp,
im using it right now every once in a while at my church, and its effects are amazing. The efx stays true to the original tone, and doesnt have much of the 'processed' junk-sound. Good amp to crank up on insane and play metal riffs :P

I recently bought a Line 6 Flextone III, the one with twin 12 inch speakers. Previously I've always owned Marshalls, but this amp rocks. Gigging? No problem, although its friggin heavy its a combo so its relatively small compared to a stack. My main channell which I use most of the time is a replica of a double recto Mesa stack. It may not be a Mesa, but it doesn't have to shake the walls down to get that sound either.

Guitar you say? Get the SG, you won't be dissapointed.
