Picture Here

This just arrived from the factory, and I just picked it up like an hour ago.. It's pure sex.

My camera is being borrowed by my friend, so I can't take a picture of mine, but this is literally EXACTLY what it looks like (I even got green!)

<3 the active pups in this thing.

daaaaamn!

Not really digging the snake scales or the cheap tone knobs, but that is a sick guitar!

Cheap tone knobs? They look like Gibson knobs, atleast they aren't those stupid cone looking fender ones. Those are shit.

EDIT: Here are some pics I took with the only camera I have... The one on my cell phone.

I have a few extra ones of those in my spare parts box.. They are ugly. Those are the cone ones I was talking about. Plus the colour is hideous.

Either way they are just pieces of plastic no matter what.. They all do the same thing. Plus these are sort of sunken into the maple top, it look better in person, trust me.

Youtube that shit.

When I finish figuring out You Shook Me All Night long, I'll post that.

Song is sick.

EDIT: For f*ck sakes, I've been double posting alot lately.. sry.

Pretty damn sick I have to say. Does the texture get in the way at all?

Mine

Can hardly play a damn thing on it

Working in software sucks for free time.

To be honest you can't feel the texture at all when you play it, feels like a normal guitar, but when you want to feel the texture, you feel the f*ck out of it.

EDIT: Leftly, I tried recording, but the active pickups are definitely not suited to go straight into the mic port.. All you get is super distortion (even when on clean). I maybe buy a cheap USB mic and just put it to my amp, though. But for now no recording, as it sounds too shitty.

lawlz, I can play that song, though my ad-lib solo for it is usually terrible

for recording, does your rp 200 not have a usb port on it?

No the RP250 is the first of the RP series to have one :hmph:

And it's not the song is hard, it's figuring it out.. I have it all but the solo down, and I haven't worked on it in like a week lol.

are you one of those tab nazi's who refuses to use them?

No, I use them sometimes when I'm feeling lazy or wanna know something that'd be near impossible to figure out (like Paul Gilbert stuff), but I just like figuring shit out on my own. It's rewarding.

yeah, it takes a lot of practicing to get good at figuring it out on your own in any reasonable amount of time.

I should practice scales and chords more.

Theory in general, my good sir.

For example, I'm not 100% sure yet but I'm pretty sure You Shook Me All night long is in G+ which makes it a hundred times easier to figure out.

yeah, im not a fan of the scales, but ibanez makes good instruments and thats all that counts in the end.

not sure what you mean by G+ but since it's AC-DC it's easy to figure out the chords. They pretty much only use A, E, D, and G chords.

daaaawwf

I demand a video of that being played. If it sounds half as good as it looks I'll buy one, right the **** now.

Trust me, for metal this thing is ace. You can get really nice clean out of it too, but you have to pick lightly, if you pick hard (like really hard) on clean, you can get it to get a slight crunch, it's really awesome.

Seriously though, if you do get one, don't get green, THAT'S MY THING, and I also don't want people thinking we are gay.

Get the brown, the green and brown fade out to black around the edges, so it's almost like a sunburst.

Finally got my camera back, was adding pics on facebook so I decided to add proper pics here, if anyone is still interested.

the body texture does look quite nice

did you get the case with it too?

I'll have to give this a play next time I go to Guitar Center, never been a fan of Ibanez's but I'd be willing to make an exception for a lovely guitar like that.

I had to buy the case, if you look carefully in the first pic you can see the case doesn't quite match the coutures of the body, the case is a Les Paul case, and my Les Paul fits perfectly in there, but I hang my Les Paul on the wall, and keep this in the case.

Case is super nice, cost me $75, though.

@Dalamari - I have never been a fan of Ibanez's either, but this thing is beautiful in every way (sound, feel, and looks). Like I said DON'T YOU F*CKING GET A GREEN ONE YOU BASTARD.

I haven't tried an Ibanez electric before (I buy Fender), but as I've said a few times, my bass and my acoustic have both been made by Ibanez and have been absolutely amazing.

Ew, body patterns are horrible in my opinion. I'm sure it's a nice sound but bodyworks always scream gimmick for me. Obviously not to others, of course, which is fine if you like it.

Otherwise, nice. My first bass was an Ibanez and I've recently used a guitar for a noise/ambient project I'm working on, or at least I used it briefly at least anyway.

Something like that is purely for looks, it looks cool, it doesn't give you an extra edge, it doesn't affect your playing at all.. As far as I'm concerned nothing on a guitar is a gimmick as long as it doesn't affect your playing, because in the end you're guitar skill is what counts while playing it. For example, super distortion is technically a gimmick, because people can't hear your mistakes so it makes you sound better, you know? That a gimmick because it affects your playing.

Actually, I think the opposite but agree to what you are saying. I find it a gimmick for not bringing anything new to the guitar itself and instead bringing more attention to the look of the instrument then it does to the sound. It's also personal preference on my behalf but in my eyes, I don't want anymore attention to be drawn towards me or what I am playing as I would prefer focus to be towards the music itself at a live venue. This doesn't apply to every show and every crowd member, but I've been to my fair share of shows and had friends do nothing but think positive or negative of a bands image and the instruments they play whereas I am leaving the gig thinking positive or negative or what I just heard.

Again, this is obviously not always going to be the case.

Well for live playing you could argue both ways, I mean people don't go to shows just to listen to it, else they'd just play the music from a CD. I go to shows to watch the bands play, see their technique and things like that (but then again I play, so it won't be the same for everyone), if they got a cool looking guitar that's just a plus. Eye candy, nothing else.

See, your argument is sort of weird saying something like that, because why would you think guitars have different body styles? They look cool, you want to look good while you play or else every guitar would look the same if no one cared about looks. You would be surprised how many people loathe the telecaster body style, I love it. Same with Les Pauls, you either hate it or love it. And I also am not a fan of the standard strat style because you just see it so much it just started to bore me.

So I can understand why you would not like it, you can't love every guitar, but a gimmick it is not, just a bit more flashy than the average guitar. Because reading this thread, clearly people like the way it looks.

I think we've crossed wires between the point where I stated my opinion that seems to differ slightly from yours. I think it's a gimmick because it doesn't add any benefits to what I would want to do - play music. If you want to look flashy or see some designs at show, that's fine, knock yourself out. There shouldn't need to be any sort of back and forth dispute over why you think my opinion is wrong, whether it be because you think guitars look dull or because a couple of people like the design whereas I don't.

For the record though, to think that people don't go to shows just to listen to the music is a bit weird, man. :p I'd go see my favourite bands even if they stood behind a curtain all night - it's all about the atmosphere, the energy, being in the same room as the sonic waves of good music... man, I love it!

I'm actually just arguing the definition of gimmick here.. I just don't think this is a gimmick. I already said everyone likes different guitars, and I can understand why you don't like mine, but it's not a gimmick.

Everyone loves different things about shows, I'm not arguing that.

In marketing language, a gimmick is a quirky feature that distinguishes a product or service without adding any obvious function or value.

- wiki.

Dictionary references state similiar results, amongst others. At least, this is always what I was led to believe a gimmick was. It's not always a bad thing - many things might be considered a gimmick - this just happens to be one I've never been much of a fan of. In the end, it's personal preference. I bet I could find a few things that I love that you might find as gimmicks, but let's not derail this any further with definitions of words.

When I saw the first picture of this guitar, I thought "OMG THAT'S HIDEOUS", then I saw your home pictures and realized it was sex.

Bought an acoustic guitar yesterday but a string is already broken :(

I've broken the e string twice when putting new strings on because I tightened them too much lol
