DirectDraw no longer exists in DirectX. Direct3D is used for 2D. Also you missed DirectShow (webcams, avi etc.).D3D is just a peice of DX, which handles 3d rendering. The other peices are DirectSound (sound), DirectDraw(2d), DirectMusic(music), DirectInput (Input), and DirectPlay (networking).
