I've just receieved this news in directly from Tina Kowalewski over at G4 Media. For all of you wondering what's going on with "The Lost Coast" aka "The ATI Levels", here's a nice update:
Tune into G4’s ATTACK OF THE SHOW! next Wednesday to see Valve’s Doug Lombardi exclusively demonstrate an upcoming new level from what many have named the best PC game of all time – Half-Life 2.[br]This previously unseen Half-Life 2 area, dubbed “The Lost Coast”, demonstrates a brand new technology which Valve is implementing into the Source engine, called high-dynamic range lighting. This new technology enables a leap in lighting realism from even the current high benchmark set by Half-Life 2 and the existing Source engine. Tune in to glimpse the future of PC graphics with this live demonstration on G4’s ATTACK OF THE SHOW! LIVE next Wednesday [30th March] at 4PM PST / 7PM EST.
You can find even more information, including information on what else is on the show here.[br]There is also more information on repeat times and the full story here.

Someone...please...give us....the ones with G4....the details...or a video....yes....a video would be nice....yes.....

(knecke): your ugly facen dnot allowed to talk!!

Nice one, I hope this show gets released as a bink or something because I don't have G4 Tech TV on SkyDigital :(

yeah some one should rip it to there computer and put it up to download

Stop plotting to do pirate type things, arrrr.

Well there was the G4 video of Dr. Kleiner, that wasn't pirated.

Yes, but that wasn't ripped to their computer and put up for download.

That was officially sourced.

Anyone who renames a show to "Attack of the Show!" should have evil thoughts thought against them lol :P

Thanks for the heads up Chris :D

Well they better put this up for DL too :flame:

Well G4 have put a lot of game vids up for viewing, they let a few Doom vids go up and that interview not long ago. Fingers crossed.

hopefully someone can tape it with a video capture card or something so we can all see it ;)

Sounds cool. But the future of PC graphics? That's sorta stretching it. I mean we all seen HDR before. But nonetheless, I am looking forward to it.

awsome, videos will be on the net within hours. :P

I don't have G4 but my friend does so I asked him to tape it for me. :cheese:

yeah so yeah someone tape it and yeah put it up for download yeah ya know yeah

pfft, why does everyone send emails to you, they should be sending them to ME! :P

jk, anyways, looks great :D

I'm torn between my love of Half-Life 2, and my utter hatred of G4.

I remember last time G4 promised "new" footage of HL2 a year ago... during that game show. In fact, we had to wait AFTER the show (2 hours of emo crap) and watch "the making of"... basically it was the same recycled crap Valve has been telling us. It was 3 hours of my life that were pointlessly wasted. :(

Damn i hope they get it on BINK, G4 doesnt exist over here in the UK wish they would stretch there Show to Europe

Yeah I would hardly call HDR "brand new technology." Hell weren't they using HDR for the Dx9 bink video for HL2? (you know..the one on the rooftops).

Perhaps there is something more to it? :D...I can hope :/

I'm sure LEGAL versions of it will be posted on G4...they better >:O

How is recording the G4 presentation with Doug then posting it on the net illegal? It has been done so many times without complaints. There are many of us who don't get Tech TV or whatever it's called now and would very much like to see HDR in HL2 as well as a preview of the lost coast.

Well actually, it is illegal. So there you go.

Well it is the future if its new technology (relatively new anyway, last i checked Far Cry and Splinter Cell 3 were the only games that use it, and only SC3 uses it well, Far Cry just looks tacky with it on)

Noo! I'm leaving for England today for all spring break, I won't be here to see it.. poo, someone get a vid when I come back.. :(

I still have a bink called Source_HDR02.exe - the title is Source(tm) Engine High-Dynamic Range Rendering.. why didn't Valve include HDR in HL2's retail version? Or maybe High-Dynamic Range Rendering doesn't mean High-Dynamic Range Lighting? :hmph:

I also hope that G4 will release the online streaming video of this event, G4 doesn't exist here ;).
